Anyone else sittin' on their ass New Year's Eve?

Well, this New Year’s Eve will be the first one in seven years where I won’t be alone. I’m over in Australia at the moment, but my planned holiday here got cut short from the original 2.5 weeks, and I leave tomorrow. But … I get to be here tonight with Goo and her husband. It’ll be cool.

Tut tut Mr Kabong, some of us have to work

Going to be spending a quiet night watching TV with the new man in my life… or not so quiet. Depends how fussy he is.

I’ll probably not make it to midnight unless I take a nap during the day sometime.

Unless my friend comes through tommorow morning, either chillin at home after taking G’ma to dinner, or hitting a local Goth club.

(Goths and nerds are quite a lot alike, the whole “alternative rebel” disenfranchised social outkast thing and all)

Oh, yeah.
We’ll be home, maybe with a movie or a good book.
At our advanced ages, we’ve finally learned that Holidays where the phrase “Hey, hold my beer, and watch this, ya’ll”, is heard, are best spent away from the madding crowds.
We stay home a lot.

Congrats on the new man, Obsidian.

And blasphmer? Do you like Wheel of Fortune? 'Cuz you need to buy a vowel.

My girlfriend’s working some, I think. We got invited to a party, but it’ll be full of frat boys, and we’re not really frat boy kinda people.

That’s the best part. And I’m usually the guy saying “here let me hold that” to encourage them heh heh heh.

Gonna go see a movie, either that or stay here while my sister throws a party that I don’t want to be a part of. Just have to figure out what movie to see.

I will ring in 2004 by watching the commercials that come on between Family Guy and Inuyasha. That is, unless Adult Swim New Year’s Party thing changes the schedual.

Hey **dantheman/b], come on over to my new year’s eve party! Several other dopers will be there. I don’t live too far from you, Falls Church, VA, just 20 minutes around the beltway!

No plans here. I’m not sure what they were thinking at church but someone out there thought that it would be a good idea to have a New Year’s Eve service from 9 to midnight and NOT have the nursery available for parents with young kids. LilSnoopy? Sit quietly for 3 hours? Yeah right!

I’ve begun my NYE here in the office. I’ll be leaving between 2 and 2:30, going home, and painting.

Yep - you heard me - I’ll be painting the hall!! Last night I removed the pictures and spackled the nail holes. Today I put down a drop cloth and dig out the roller!

I never got much out of NYE anyway. Hubby and I usually fall asleep early in front of the TV. But he’s in Baltimore again this year and after I get the painting done (it’s a pretty long hall) I’ll probably shower, grab a light dinner, and crash in front of the TV. Woohoo!

It depends. I’ve got an invite over to a friends’ house, but I’m not sure yet if I’m going. I will likely stay home, watch a dvd and have a glass of wine. I’m already up way too early, I have to work today and it’s just sort of become tradition for me to spend a quiet NYE at home. I rather enjoy it.

We’ll be home with the little flodnaks. They’ll get to stay up until midnight if they can, and we have a pack of small fireworks to set off and a bottle of sparkling apple cider to pop open.

I’ll be the hostess with the mostess this evening and after all the shopping I’ve had to do for everyone, I wish I was just going to be sitting on my ass.
Never mind, there’s always next year.

I made an alcohol fuelled comeback and stole a leaf out of wendyrules’ book, so good night all. Happy New Year.

FCM last week was the week to “deck” the halls.

I’ve got a few friends coming over tonight. We’re gonna sit around, snack (gonna have some good buffalo wings!), drink and at midnight toast the New Year with some champagne. Maybe even some hot tub time. Should be nice.

Also, they get to watch me cook. I feel the need to feed people on New Year’s Day. Every year I have blackeyed peas and greens, along with cornbread. I’m even making meatloaf and mac and cheese. Oh and peach cobbler for dessert. Friends will gather at my house around eleven a.m. tomorrow, drink bloody mary’s and about one we’ll have a big New Year’s feast.

Don’t feel to bad, CartoonSuperHero, I’m working tomorrow, too, so I’ll be home sitting on my rear, too!

I have a variety of friends who are having a party, but I haven’t been specifically invited anywhere. I know they’ll all say that the invitation was implied, but I think a phone call woulda been nice.

Actually though, if I really wanted to go out, I would go to one of those parties. But I have been driving a lot lately, so I think I’m going to stay home and ring in the new year alone.
