As for my plans - the tux has been cleaned and pressed, the dinner plans made, the suite reserved, and the bubbly put on ice. My SO and I blow it out every New Year’s Eve and we’ll do the same this year.
Please, no phone calls before 3:00 pm tomorrow afternoon and try to keep it down while I nurse my hangover. Thanks.
stormchaser and I haven’t decided what we are doing yet. We were invited to a friends house, but usually we stay home. Other than work, I haven’t been anywhere on NYE in years.
I’m staying at home. Every year I watch the Sci-Fi channel’s Twlight Zone marathon. I love that show. But I may break tradition and just watch some movies. I’m not much of a party girl either.
The organized fun will be this afternoon – I’ve rounded up a bunch of friends to go to the Mutter Museum (medical oddities) then down to South Philly (Italian neighborhood) for pizza. I’ll be home by eight, at which point I’ll pop in a video. I’m sure I’ll be asleep long before midnight.
Hiya, Nyctea scandiaca, another Falls Church Doper here!
Anyhoo, last night my bf and I did some pre-New Year’s celebrating with his parents at Macaroni Grill, so tonight we’re going to park it on the sofa, watch Titanic (and cheer when Leo dies), and drink some nicely chilled Veuve Clicquot.
I will also be staying in with my hubby. We’re starting a new diet January 2, so we’re eating all the stuff that’s bad for us while we still can. I think there’s a bottle of cheap champagne on the agenda too. That and a lot of DVD watching (Buffy Season 5), then some champagne-fueld smoochies.
Anything will be better than last New Year’ Eve, when the brake stotally failed on his car and we had to coast several miles home. Mortal terror is a crummy way to start the year.
Happy New Year, everybody! And if you see a drunk driver, shoot 'em, just to be safe.
Sounds like me every year… And it might be me this year if a friend hadn’t called me up to hang with some random people. Damn her! Looks like I’ll find out if bar-hopping with people I barely know is better than sitting at home alone.
Well, as fizzy is only a few thousand miles away, and my only other option is something that would leave me quite more tired than practical to get up tomorrow at 7 bloody 30, I doubt I will be doing anything interesting at midnight.
My husband’s a firefighter for Dallas, and he’s working the 24-hour shift tonight. So, it’s just me and my 6 & 8 yr-old boys tonight. I got some pseudo-firecrackers from the store, but I doubt they’ll make it to midnight.
So, it will be me and my bottomless glass of wine until midnight…
C’mon, dantheman and others - if you don’t stay awake, who will I talk to??
I’ve put away my paint roller for the night. Got half the hallway and one of the small vestibules done. Dog and cat are fed and I’ll be crashing in bed with the TV on in a little bit.
