It’s pretty interesting – especially the first episode about the early history of film – doesn’t cast Mr. Edison in a very favorable light (no pun intended).
I suppose it’s impossible to do the history of movie-making – the science, economics, personalities, etc. – in just seven hours. This feels like an overview, an outline, it’s very basic. A lot of what they just touch on, I’d like more of.
But it’s interesting, the evolution of movie-making.
On tonight’s episode, Robert Osborne commented on the “Five O’Clock Girls” – starlets who serviced the big shots at 5:00, hoping to wangle their way into a part. I don’t think I’ve heard anyone speak so openly about the “casting couch” before.
