We are looking for a home closer to work. But by the time we learn of a home on the market in that area, there is already an offer on it, or the home doesn’t match our requirements.
I was wondering if it would be a good idea to look at homes in the area that look suitable and approach the owners directly to see if they are interested in selling. Has anyone done this? How did it turn out?
My cousin has done it three times. Got the house twice.
We made an offer on our current home even though it was in escrow.
We got it. (and for 5000$ less than the other people were going to pay)
Also, I have people knock on my door and ask. (I have names and numbers of 2 that I kept, in case we decide to sell.)
