My longest lived dog was my Gordon Setter Corey. He made it to 14 and a half which is unusual for such a big dog.
My guy is 13.5yrs and looks and acts like a much younger dog. He’s a mix of probably Border Collie and terrier. He often goes on long hikes with another household member or the dog walker and he runs everywhere unless he’s on a leash.
A friend had a Border Collie who lived to be 22. She got him as an 8 week old pup so was sure of his age. He was pretty creaky for the last couple of years but full of spirit, you could see it in his eyes and in the wag of his tail. He died peacefully in his sleep.
Daisy-Dog, who I got in San Francisco before I even joined the boards, just snuffed it last summer. A good long 18 year run.
I had a chihuahua type dog, I think mixed that lived over 19 years. My field bred English setter was killed in an accident at 14 but was still a spry and active hunter, I think he had several years left in him.
Went through 4 dogs growing up, mostly mutts from the pound, usually 20-25 lbs or so. The one purebred we had was Pudgie, a cocker spaniel. She made it to 17, still in pretty good shape physically, but had some sort of neuro issue at the end. The others never got past 4 or 5.
My Homer is 17. He was born in 1999 in October.
Half dachshund half Jack Russel. Just got checked out at vet. Blood work normal, heart normal. Little arithritis in the back leg knee area.
Our cocker spaniel, lady, made it to 17. I’ve had a cat make it to 21.
