Anyone ever used the old aluminum ice cube trays?

That is my fond memory of them.

Being a kid, I thought it was kind of cool.

I have some silicone ones from Ikea. They’re fun shapes - arrows, X’s, long bars - and the ice just pops right out without me having to fight with them. Much more fun than the regular plastic ice cube trays.

I use theseplastic bags that fill up with water, are tied closed. When you need ice, you just tear the bags open.
They are nice when you have a small freezer. You can stack as much bags on top of eath other as you like, but if you don’t need ice (and in the Netherlands we only need ice in drinks in August) you don’t have all these ice-trays taking up freezerspace.
