Anyone familiar with Lone Pine, CA?

Early next week we’ll be backpacking on Mt. Langley. On the last day we will have come off the mountain and begin the long drive (6 hours or so) back to San Diego. The drive would be much more comfortable (and less smelly) if we could find a place to shower in Lone Pine. Anyone?

Here you go:

Sierra Nevada Showers

There’s the Whitney Portal Store & Hostel on Main Street - $5 for a shower.

Looks like a really small place. Maybe a motel/inn might let you have a room for a short time.

If there happens to be a gym, they might let you in.

I wouldn’t try the mall.

ETA: Ninja’d.

Yeah, watch out for the terrorists and a crazy old man and a teenager in a DeLorean.

No, that’s TWIN Pines. Totally different .

Sure it is!

Remember when Marty returns to the mall and watches Doc get shot and himself get chased into the future?
When he ran past the sign, it already said Lone Pine Mall.

Take a look.

I don’t know what you are talking about. In my timeline, Marty’s dad is a loser, Doc is shot (and killed!) at the TWIN Pines mall, and Marty disappeared in a flash of light to points unknown. Never came back.

(IOW, I got the joke, and was making one of my own.)

Odd to see taking a shower in Lone Pine associated with terrorists in this thread. I was hiking on Mt. Whitney on 9/11 and drove down that evening to take a shower at the Whitney Hostel. The owner was the one who broke the news to me.

Find yourself a Pilot (or almost any other truck-stop), they have showers. It costs around $5, but worth it.

I’ve only been through Lone Pine once and I don’t recall there being a big truck stop there, at least not ones like you see off the interstates nowadays.
