It might help if you called me an asshole. Or at least greedy. Thanks.
Rand, you are a greedy asshole!
And I mean that with all sincerity.
I haven’t read all of the posts – just came across this thread tonight. But, my answer is no, I don’t have buyer’s regret because I voted for Hillary. But like so many voters, I was impressed and charmed by Obama, and thought he was sincere about following through on his campaign promises. But I am angry that he has continued Bush’s wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He’s supported further off-shore oil drilling (which I disagreed with before the blowout in the Gulf of Mexico). I can’t see voting for a Republican under any circumstances, but I’m truly disappointed in Obama.
Oh, that can’t be right. You give yourself too little credit.
They’re conservatives, Starving. You’re a reactionary. You’re comparing Samuel L. Jackson with Urkel.
Do you need another hug? We could bump your hug thread for you.
Let me stand up as a former starry-eyed Obamaite who now sees the asshole for what he is. Obama=Bush in Blackface. Obama is just much more articulate than Bush when it comes to saying absolutely nothing.
Oh, I teared up watching the joyful parties around the world celebrating the end of Bushism. Amen, I said.
Well, fuck me running.
Obama from Jon Stewart
This is a must see If you want an excellent look at this black corporate puppet as a talented bushit artist and our govt regulatory agencies as bagmen for industry. Is anyone going to tell me, like Obama, “It’s complicated.”? Are you going to tell me that this is an isolated bit of corruption, that it’s not endemic in our govt? Look at Wall Street so-called regulation, another “complicated” issue, according to Obama. Health care? “Complicated.” Closing Guantanamo? “Complex.” How much complicated shit stew can you eat before you recognize the taste?
Afterwards, check out MMS’s home page,

.gov, indeed.
Slick, huh? Ethics section and everything. I wonder how their oversight of the coal industry is going.
Wake up, you sleepy heads.
Bricker, any comment on my Wood/Kagan comparison?
Should’ve voted for McCain IMO.
Yes, that would have been sweet. With all the stress of having to justify his indefensible positions, he’d be dead by now we’d have Sarah at the helm.
“Oh, heck! We had a little spill up in Alaska a while ago and everything turned out just fine.”
I assume your first point is humorous.
Much discussion has surrounded the value of the judicial record for a SCOTUS nominee. I agree that Judge Wood has such a record and Kagan does not. And in general, I agree that a judicial record make it easier to evaluate a nominee.
I don’t agree we’ve seen any shredding of the Bill of Rights, and so I believe that both Kagan and Wood can be fairly described as justices that would protect it.
I won’t argue the point. If you don’t think that Obama’s strengthening of Bush’s domestic surveillance policies and denial of rights to detainees is not “shredding” The Bill of Rights, what more can I say other than pointing out one last time that Kagan is a buddy of Obama and supports the expansion of Presidential power.
While Obama hasn’t even met my (modest) expectations of him (I thought he’d at least try to open some sunlight between himself and the Bush admin on civil liberties, something which I could never envision Hillary doing), I still can’t see going with the opposite-party nominees for lulz.
What denial of rights to detainees? He’s trying to stick them in civilian jails and give them civilian trials, with lawyers and everything.
That said, I can’t think of anything that would enhance our reputation more than trying and acquitting a high-profile detainee.
Nope. I’m just a guy who’s fed up with watching people whose policies and beliefs over the last 40 years have resulted in millions and millions of lost or absolutely ruined lives going on and on about how smart they are and calling anyone who disagrees with them “morons”.
Quite my point. You’re not looking to preserve what is, which is “conservative”. You want to go back forty years. Reactionary.
No, sixty years. Delusional.
What about “dumbass”, is it okay to call somebody “dumbass”?
Well, DOUBLE dumbass on YOU!
Incidentally, I do agree with the basic point that saying “you’re an idiot” when you mean “I disagree with you” is massively overused and getting worse. I disagree that it’s predominantly a trait of liberals.
Obama talking about “who’s ass to kick” on the Today show made for a nice chuckle.
A ham-handed attempt to “sound tough and engaged” on a national broadcast with a sympathetic interviewer. Does anyone really believe that was anything but contrived?
I can only imagine the derision if GWB had said something like that in similar circumstances. The same people that find it swoon-worthy when coming from Obama would be using words like “crude” “inappropriate” and “Unpresidential”.
