Anyone feeling buyers remorse about Obama yet?

We’ve had 280 posts now. Without digging through all the posts has anyone that voted for Obama come out and said if they could take their vote back they would?

This thread to me seems to have concluded people who didn’t vote for Obama still think they made the right choice and they want others to agree with them.

People who voted for Obama while not happy with everything he’s done would still have voted for him.

You know he did win the election. No matter how bitter you are about that it’s not going to change the results. Now the bitter losers are just looking for more people to be bitter with.

There’s those conservatives who don’t care about the environment; and then there are those who actively want to destroy it. I certainly wouldn’t expect a conservative to care about the environment. Or to possess any other positive quality, for that matter.

No, it’s pretty much just you.

Actually, there are several. The reason they don’t get called “idiot” and “moron” is because they’re not idiots and morons. Your own experience is different because, well, you’re different.

And oh goody, let’s play silly stereotypes…

No, it’s you who came up with the brilliant idea of putting misbehaving kids or homosexual kids into private “faith-based” correctional programs where they’re beaten and abused by the “counselors”, but it’s all okay because it’s showing them the love of Jesus.

No, it was you who insisted on draconian mandatory-incarceration schemes that throw millions of nonviolent minor offenders into real cesspools of hopelessness and crime, but you don’t care as long as you can pat yourself on the back for being “tough on crime”.

Unless they were your multiple daily cocktails and desk-drawer liquor bottles and hip flasks and cigarettes and sleeping pills and barbituates for your unhappy housewives, in which case woe betide anybody who tried to tell you that all that stuff might not be very good for you.

No, it was you who created the type of society where date rape was winked at as a “boys will be boys” phenomenon, and a rape victim’s highest duty was to hide her “shame” and not expose her attacker, because otherwise all you puritanical assholes would call her a slut and a whore.

No, it was you who promoted the ridiculous mandatory-sentencing laws because your need to feel righteous about punishing crime outweighed your common sense, such as it was.

No, it was you who decided that marital rape and domestic violence didn’t count as real crimes, and the alleged “sanctity” of the “piece of paper” was more important than the suffering of abused women and children who didn’t dare leave their abusers because all you self-righteous pricks would look down on them and their “broken homes”.

So could I. There definitely were some excesses and mistakes in liberal society, but at least they’re an improvement over the poisonous stifling bigotry and oppression that conservative society insisted on ramming down our throats.

Please start your own thread and derail it.

How’s that Whiney Bitchey thing working out for ya?

Umm…hate to tell you this, but Plan B has been on the same level of intellectual honesty and integrity as magellan for quite some time. Signup day, I believe.

Wow, that was kind of awesome. I would actually like to see you two get a thread and go at it. I mean, I’m not complaining that you’re hijacking, I mean there’d be enough material for you two to go at each other for pages.

And I also like when people remind SA that the 50s weren’t all lollipops and sunshine and the brady bunch.

Oy, thanks anyway. Dueling-silly-stereotypes is not my favorite style of argument, but it’s the only kind Starving Artist seems able to engage in. (Well after all, he is an idiot.)

And we didn’t even get to the topic of race relations…

Someone on this board once called me “dumbass”, does that make me a conservative?

I propose we simply start calling all idiots, morons, and douchenozzles Starving Artists.

In general, y’all care less. There is a group of conservatives concerned about the environment to the extent that environmental damage causes harm to recreational hunting and fishing. There is a group of conservatives concerned about the environment to the extent that environmental damage causes harm to commercial hunting and fishing.

There is, unfortunately, a stronger and more monied group of conservatives concerned about the environment to the extent that they oppose restrictions on their ability to dump industrial waste, emissions, and runoff anywhere their little hearts desire because such restrictions will harm industry.

There’s a line in the middle somewhere, and it would behoove both sides to recognize that.

‘Will Harm Industry’ is a polite euphemism for ‘might cost me.’

Well, yeah. I assumed that was understood. I was too subtle?

There are libertarians in this thread, they may believe that the words actually express a noble sentiment, rather than serve poorly as a cover for personal greed.

There can be only one.

Yep, we’re here, and we’re crying our little eyes out. :frowning: How dare you intimate that I’m greedy, you . . . you human being you . . . with your two legs and two arms and everything . . . take that!!

Um… I know I don’t get named too often in list of board conservatives (maybe because I’m somewhat libertarian leaning? You know, pro-life, pro-gay marriage/adoption), but people don’t call me names too often either.

There, there Rand, it’ll be OK.
Just try to remember that the ‘bad for business’ dodge makes poor camo, and people won’t point out quite so often what an asshole you are.

That’s actually my biggest fear. I’m crying even harder now :frowning:

Geeze, Rand. Do you need someone to pat you on the back and say “there, there”?
You are so sad!
