Anyone finish Nanowrimo?

There used to be thread on Nanowrimo around here, with quite a few of us signed up to participate, but I can’t find where it went. Ah well.

I paced myself, set a goal for at least 1,667 words per day, and stuck to it (most of the time.) The bad thing about pacing is that getting one day behind will really screw you in the long run.

But at the end of the month, I ended up with a halfway decent, 50542 - word novel, with a plot and everything. I’m proud of myself, and of anyone else who managed to finish.

Did any Dopers make it?

I got the word count; I’m at over 53,000 right now. But the damned novel refuses to let me finish it off, and my characters are insisting that they need to do some things before we even reach the climax, and even after that there’s some things to wrap up…

So, in short, yeah, I finished.
Yay me!

The thread is here.

I finished with 61, 274 and submitted yesterday

I finished up a few days ago, printed it out, and am feeling pretty smug about the whole thing. Not smug, happy. Warm and fuzzy. Right.

I finished on the 23rd!!! That is, I got my 50K. But the novel isn’t near done yet–I’m at 58,058 and I’m still going…I think I’m looking at another 30 or 40K before I can actually wrap it up.

Finished at just over 50k with a few days to spare, second year in a row now. I’m in love with Nanowrimo. Thirteen months ago, I thought I might go my whole life without ever writing a novel. And now I’ve written two.

Finished with 20 hours to spare on the 30th, at 57,500 words, 150 pages.

The plot is uncomplicated and cliched, the characters are stereotypes, and the humor is ripped from almost everything else. But then again, that’s what I wanted. I’ve done enough really serious work lately, so I did something fun and rather silly (as well as almost intentionally stupid at points).

But then again, those stupid characters kinda took on a mind of their own towards the end.

But on the other hand, I managed to do so after starting a week late (had to finish another story) did almost 20,000 words, 50 pages in 4 days,(And yes, I felt very close to dead the next morning) then settled down to about 2,000 words a day.

Now I must edit it.

I joined - fully intended on participating and giving it my all - but didn’t even write word one for it during the month. That’s not to say I didn’t do any writing, just that I didn’t think I had a novel-size story to tell just yet and I’d rather save my energy for the inspiration rather than forcing myself to crank out what I know would be crap.

Oh well, there’s always next year.

Woohooo! Finished with almost week to spare, though my novel ended around 48,000 words - had to do a lot of padding. My final count was 50,024.

Damn, but that novel sucks ass. I plan to never look at it again.
