Anyone from Maranello region of Italy or have experience traveling there?

I’m simply trying to get one night, 17th of October, at a reliable hotel and enjoy the Ferrari museum and the local culture.

Also, any other advice that you feel would be helpful (places to eat, local connections, etc).

On Sunday, 18 of Octbober, I will head to Milan for a flight to Madrid.

GRAZIE!

I just came back from an Italian trip, visited the Emilia-Romagna region but missed Maranello. I reckon you won’t have time to swing by Bologna as well? The restaurant scene there is crazy good. And don’t even get me started on their ice cream…

I’ve got a day or two. I will hit the Ferrari museum for sure. Just being near Ferrari HQ sort of completes a pilgrimage.

I’ll be taking the train from Milan. Jeeze… Bologna is only 45 minutes away from Modena and Maranello. I had no idea the restaurant scene was particularly good.

Hmmm…

If you do go to Bologna, you’ve gotta visit an ice cream joint called La Sorbetteria di Castiglione. Best I ever had.

Bologna is nicknamed “la grassa”, i.e. the fat one.

Not just good - surprisingly cheap, too.

Might maybe have something to do with it being a non-touristy student town? Not sure though.

Lucky Bastard! Just sayin’…

Post photos, please! And get me a sticker, please.

I am actually staying next to Ferrari, overlooking their facilities and Pista Di Fiorano, their test track.

If they can do well in Sochi at the Russian Grand Prix this week, spirits in the area will be good. I’ll be there Sat-Sun, October 07.

Good info in this thread. SDMB for the win – always. I have to find a way to Bologna now. The best part is that my boss basically said, “Yeah, let’s do it.” And he doesn’t care how much we wing it.

And I know him two weeks.

I will post a Flickr link to pics. FTR, I am going to Europe for two weeks, and my intinerary is:

Philadelphia, USA to London. London to Paris (Chunnel train). Paris to Milan. Milan to Maranello (train). Maranello to Milan. Milan to Madrid. Madrid to Munich. Munich to London. London to Philadelphia, USA.

.

Or in other words, “if we’re on Tuesday this is Brussels”.

Correction: 17 of October to 18
