My favorite of his:
Do eeeeeeeeet! The Smurf movies were pretty good and I’m sure they could make satisfactory films out of the other ones.
You’re the first person I’ve heard say that. At most people say they were okay.
I’m actually looking forward to the new one that seems to be actually set where the TV show was, instead of having them come to the real world.
I everyone ready?
Ducktales premiers tonight at 12am with an hour long episode, and plays back-to-back all tomorrow!!
OH,
It’s on Disney XD.
I never watched DuckTales when it was on originally, but I liked this one a lot. Probably because I’m a big David Tennant fan, and his voice is perfect for Scrooge. I like the personalities for the kids, too. Not a big fan of Donald. I hope he doesn’t end up being on it much.
I got to attend a panel at SDCC featuring some of the voice actors (including Tennant). It was great! (I think it’s on YouTube somewhere–it’s worth it just for Tennant’s improvised Uncle Scrooge freak-out.
)
If you missed the new episode on TV, you can watch it here (40 min) http://watchdisneyxd.go.com/ducktales/video/vdka4007749/01/01-woo-oo
I thought that I was not going to like it at all based on the pilot clips that were shown (as too forced and random wacky humor), but I love it! The whole humor/show flows together like a proper Saturday morning cartoon should. The art style is ~meh~ and some of the voices are too different (not having H D L sound like Donald is easier on my ears, at least), but they grew on me. and writing the children with different personalities is a much needed improvement over the original.
I like this new actively intertwining “family” dynamic that Donald and Scrooge have, that only gets deeper into spoiler territory if you watch till the end.
It was nice to have little nods to the older show, and outdated character habits, as everyone is updated to “our” generation. All in all, I’ll be keeping up with the show.
Just takes me to a page asking me to sign in with my cable provider. If I had one of those, I wouldn’t need to watch this, as I would have DVRed the episode.
I don’t get why they want to encourage piracy like this. I’d’ve even turned off Adblock for this.
Fortunately, I found it on ABC Go. And, wow. I am very impressed, and very happy it’s good. I was getting worried it would be overhyped.
My issue with Donald is that he can be a little tough to understand, requiring me to rewind to catch what he said. He needs to be there, but I hope they give him fewer important lines as the series goes on. Keep it simple, so that, even if you miss a word or two, it doesn’t matter.
Though it’s a boon to those who try to pirate it, as they decrease the audio quality so much when they do that you can’t understand Donald at all.
Greatest show ever.
I’m very happy with it! I thought it was great and can’t wait to watch more.
I tried watching a few episodes of the original series a few month back, and was surprised at how turned off I was at the nephews’ “Donald Duck voices.” I totally forgot that they were quacky like that.
VERY happy that the boys have regular voices. I’m also happy with the cool cast.
I just caught “The Town Where Everybody Was Nice”; I picked that one because The Three Caballeros appear in it. It brought back a lot of cherished childhood memories. LOVED it. I may have to watch the whole series now.
I noticed they dialed back Donald’s voice in the last episode so you can understand him. Guess I wasn’t the only one who complained.
I don’t like the art style and some of the new “personality traits” they gave some of the characters ……
TBH, I have no problem with the art style or the character traits. What I do have a problem with is cartoon logic applied to the adventure scenes of the show. Back in the day of the original show, it was excusable because of the poor animation… But it just seems like there’s no “rules”, which deletes any ‘danger’ felt by the viewer.
I think adventure cartoons could benefit from video games and have physics involved in wether or not Scrooge can clear a jump or not.
Of course DuckTales doesn’t have to be that precise, it is for kids, but it doesn’t have to be SO ‘goofy’ – Pun not intended. It is a show about talking ducks… But it asks us to care about the reoccurring story line, and feel emotional to some degree.
