Anyone grow mushrooms?

I recently became interested in growing mushrooms. So, I read a bunch of different books (including my old college Bio text) and then began setting up for a crack at it.

So far, I just have mycellium, haven’t fruited anything. I’m building up my holdings as I await spring.

Currently I have:

[ul]
[li]Blue Oyster. Heavily colonized quart jar that I am going to transfer to six new quart jars of Wild Bird Seed. I will eventually fruit in some laundry baskets (straw).[/li][li]Phoenix Oyster. Two heavily colonized quart jars that I am going to transfer to a dozen bird seed jars. Eventually will be fruiting this one in straw logs.[/li][li]Shaggy Mane (Coprinus spp). This one is lagging. My hope is to inoculate an outdoor composted manure pile.[/li][li]Shitake. Colonizing some half pint vermiculite and rice flour cakes. I have a shotgun fruiting chamber set up for these.[/li][/ul]

Anyone else? Nonactive species only (per board rules)

My gf is asking that I make an attempt at Morels. Everything I’ve read is discouraging me, but I guess I’ll give it a shot.

I have bought a couple mushroom blocks and grown my own shitake mushrooms and they turned out great.

These guys have everything you need, from do-it-yourself kits for the hobbyist to spores and cultures for what it sounds like you wish to do.

Fungi Perfecti, they have been around for over 30 years.

Yep, Fungi Perfecti is a site I’ve looked at a good bit. It is Paul Stamets" site. I’ve read some of his writings. He is one of the “big guys” in mycology.

On face value, I should be an expert on such matters, but it is not so…

^HAH!!
