I am looking into putting wind power in at a new home I am working on. I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with this.
Does it make much noise?
Does it require a bunch of maintenance?
Is the amount of energy generated what you were hoping for?
Do you need batteries or anything to store the juice you create?
Anything else I should know?
I’ve heard great things about Wind Wrights and they are as reputable a firm as you are going to get. Especially here in New England. I’ve not worked with them personally, but I have seen their work and it is top of the line.
There is little to no noise, they require little maintenance and yes they do need a storage device/facility for the “juice” it will be generating.
The cite I provided has alot of information on it and they are really a great firm - no I don’t work for them - they will handle all the permits and zoning issues as well.
How far into that site do you have to go to get pricing? My little town (pop. 200) is looking for an alternate energy source. Our power supplier has tripled its price in the last year, and they’re the only source available to us.
We don’t have a lot of money (about $300K) but might be able to get loans or grants for something like this.
That is a great solution, PM me and I can give you the name of someone at their office, also getting grants for these is relatively easy if you know what you are doing. ATT offers and accelerator grant for technology only also there are universities looking for places to test their equipment each year. That is a great way to go because the school pays for the harware and upkeep - You get all the power. And when they are done [after 2 semesters] you keep the hardware and they come check on it every year or so for long term study analysis.
