Anyone Have Experience with the 'Michael Teachings'?

It sounded to me like kanicbird was saying Michael is just Satan in disguise. Which I’ve actually heard frequently before – that the occult and stuff like this really does have supernatural power, but they all get their power from Satan.

I think they just don’t have any power other than the power to confuse and brainwash, myself.

I was expecting it to be all about Michael Jackson.

I agree with carrotwax for the most part.

I followed the Michael Teachings for awhile. A friend of mine read a book about it and borrowed it to me. She got so into it and I wanted to see what was so attractive so I went as far as even having my chart done. The online communities (and I joined many) for me were too negative in energy so I didn’t participate much.

Now? Eh. Perhaps it is because I was channeled as an Old Soul and my attitude is “eh, whatever”. Been there, done that. I have always felt like an Old Soul and never could understand why people got so wound up in stuff but the teachings did sort of clarify that for me.

Your friend may have found her Jesus and has jumped in with both feet. If it is difficult for you a little distance may be good. This could be apart of both your journeys in this lifetime. And remember, if she decides she needs to back off a little and you accept, it leaves room in your life for someone new.

And the dials on the “sucker birth clock” just keep on spinning.

Apparently she missed the part about the “unconditional love and acceptance…”

I realize this is a year old and Im sorry for digging it up but i found it through a search. what ever became of your friend a year later?
I have been a passive lurker around the michael teaching for a good number of years. while the basic teachings are interesting to a degree for me, and i think rather benign, some of the various off shoot groups can be EXTREMELY CULTISH in behaviour. i dont know so much they’re actual jim jones type deals, but in general some of these side group members have many of the typical personality traits found in cult minds. although communes based on the teachings have been attempted.

The only goal of the Michael Teachings is to learn how to love yourself and others - that’s called “agape” or unconditional love. It is the same goal as Jesus and every other major religion. “Love is the highest truth and truth is the highest good.”

If someone gets involved in a particular spiritual teaching, philosophy or other belief system, they can overdo it as it sounds like the original poster’s friend did. That is not the fault of the teaching - that is something that is going on with the person themselves.

The Michael Teachings STRESS personal choice in living your life and have a system of personality traits (“overleaves”) that help us to understand our self and others. They are not exact and are only given as a WAY to help us learn to love our self and to learn to love others. Again, the same teaching as Jesus’ original message: Love thy neighbor as thyself.

I was disappointed to read some of the narrow-minded comments here on a teaching that is a beautiful message of hope for the world and it again proves how each individual person’s perception colors their life experience.

When people take something beautiful and turn it into a weapon, it is very sad to me. It has happened with Christianity, as with other religions. That is not the fault of the teaching or philosophy, that is people who use it for their own personal reasons.

Ultimately, the Michael Teachings wants people to love more and fear less. A very simple message that can get twisted around for the wrong reasons.

Thank you for reading and for listening  May your journey through life be everything you hope it to be.

I never asked for so much.

Cult members are stupid, gullible sheep. Here’s the proof (it’s item #4): B¥llsh!t facts about psychology that everyone believes.

Wow… I never even saw this post or had any idea the thread had been revived. My own personal zombie.

Anyway… unfortunately it has been almost 2 years since I severed ties with my ex-friend. She was constantlky shoving that crap at me; it was like trying to talk to a ne-age Jehovah’s Witness. Everything I did was wrong in her eyes… I was supposed to sell my house and live a ‘minimal’ lifestyle. Now have a regular job because it was too controling. Look for the deep, dark meaning in everything.

I really miss the person she used to be, but feel like that person died a long time ago. I have no idea where she is now or what she’s doing.

But is that even possible from the mid-causal plane? My quantum mechanics are pretty rusty, but I thought the mid-causal plane of existence only allows northbound and circular energy transfer which would actually prevent any communication into our physical reality unless augmented by a “free-form” carrier (e.g. harmonized cubic waves) that emanated from a transverse plane.

But, as far as I know, a harmonized cubic wave has never been identified, or did I miss that development?

Reading through some of the dreck on the Michael website my overall impression is how tired all this stuff is. It’s just so obviously derivative. We are all ancient entities (like souls or thetans). We are all special but some are more special than others (priests, OC’s, channellers). People all fit into categories (astrology, D&D) which define us yet are flexible enough to be completely unfalsifiable.

I’d be more impressed with one of these sideshows if they could come up with something new. They would still then be a load of shit, but at least it would be original shit.

Sell your house and then give the proceeds to the group, right? The beliefs sound like mostly harmless stuff to me, but a group that wants her to sell her house, wants her to quit her day job, changes her personality, and splits her off from friends fits my definition of a cult. I hope she’s okay.

Rather than letting these knee-jerk reactions and uninformed opinions stand as representing the Michael Teachings, I thought it would be nice to include a real description of what it is all about. You can still reject the teachings as valid for you on an individual basis, but that’s not the same thing as denigrating them from uninformed prejudices. This teaching isn’t for everyone, and it’s useless to a lot of people. For some, it helps put into perspective a lot of life, but that’s the nature of any teaching we are drawn toward. A great teaching doesn’t TELL you the truth, it helps you to understand your own truths, and then to expand beyond those to understand others’.

None of the above opinions or anecdotes reflect the teachings. At all. There is nothing in the teachings that instructs or asks anything of those who study and apply them. In fact, it’s absolutely, profoundly, the opposite.

CHANNELING

Yes, it is a “channeled” teaching, and that can be problematic in undermining its credibility, mostly because there is so much bullshit and fraudulence in this field, but when channeling is legitimate, you can think of it as just another form of creativity and a way to access or form perspectives that help us to understand, accept, and navigate life. It’s not that different from any other art or profession, with its frauds, misunderstandings, and legitimate professionals. The important part here is what is being taught. And there is nothing in the teachings that asks people to sell their homes, be different from who they are, or to impose beliefs on others. Nothing at all.

WHAT IS THE TEACHING?

The Michael Teachings is a system of self-understanding that encourages personal responsibility and a keen awareness of how your choices shape your life. It encourages you to see life from a higher perspective, while encouraging the honoring and accepting the everyday challenges of being human. This teaching is just one map of many for finding or creating your way through your life, your relationships, and the universe of experiences.

The Teaching suggests that that the only purpose behind life, is life, itself. There is no profound, exalted, or mysteriously secret reason behind our lives. We are each “fragments” of some original source, imbued with the creative impetus to seek experience within a spectrum of possibilities. Thus, in any given lifetime nothing is wasted because ALL experience is valuable, even the “bad stuff.” The need to judge those experiences as “good” or “bad” is a convenience, but a relative concept. Michael describes experiences as neither “good” nor “bad”, but that our “Essences” learn from ALL of it, though we eventually grow to be inclined toward more expansive, embracing experiences, rather than more restricting, limited paths of fear and defense. In addition, Michael teaches that the Universe is not a chaotic, random system of events that we simply have to endure, but rather that there is an awesome structure that can be comprehended by us to some degree. This helps lend us a better understanding of our personal part in the larger scheme of things. This understanding comes from our personal experience, our personal pace, and not from imposition of ideology or cosmology.

Michael does teach that reincarnation is valid. As a soul gains experiences, so does it gain maturity and wisdom, which is identified by what Michael refers to as a “soul age.” They teach that every soul goes through 7 stages of maturity across as many lifetimes as it takes. There is no one to measure a soul’s maturity except the individual soul, itself. As we gain experience, we learn to be more aware, more compassionate, more connected, more sensitive, and more peaceful, but we also go through a spectrum of experiences that naturally include all things horrifying and beautiful. Just like any individual within a lifetime, our Essences, eventually, “grow up” over several lifetimes. We, eventually, gain enough experience that the Soul and the Personality within a lifetime begin to co-create, decide, and choose more consciously, bringing to the lifetime a greater encompassing sense of the spectrum of Truth, Love, and Energy. This leads to a greater sense of acceptance for both the self, and others, since there is no single hard truth, one way to love, or one ideal of beauty.

Your Essence creates the Body and Personality for every lifetime. A Personality is described with components that help us to understand ourselves, but is not for the sake of pigeon-holing us. Each person is described as having a Goal (a primary motivation for the lifetime), a Mode (how you relate to others and how you reach your Goal), an Attitude (a basic perspective, or primary philosophy through which you interpret life), a Centering (how you tend to navigate and react to experiences), and a couple of basic Fears are developed in our youth (developed as a habit for protection), and so on.

There are 7 Roles/Essences, 7 Goals from which to choose, 7 Attitudes, 7 Modes, 7 Basic Fears, and so on.

This might sound complicated or even limited, but it’s just one of many ways to help us understand the dynamics of who we are at the core, and to gain self-awareness through the understanding of how our Personality might function, which helps to free us from destructive criticism of others and ourselves, enabling us to enjoy this life, and to make more constructive choices, increase the Love, Understanding, Compassion and Peace in our experiences and relationships to others and to the self.

The basic core of the Michael Teachings can be summed up in the phrase:

“We are here to learn how to choose, and to choose how to learn.”

So all of the cosmology and details of the teachings are only to serve the student with a way to understand his or her choices, to encourage us to be responsible for our choices, to understand how others choices impact us, to understand how we navigate all of it, to understand where we have control and where we do not, and then we can choose what to do from there.

So, the teaching might not be for you, and channeling might be a weird medium for delivery, but it’s one of the most comprehensive, anti-imposing, humble teachings I’ve ever come across.

Channeling is bullshit. ALWAYS.

With that kind of attitude, you’ll never reach the third level.

I’ve never heard of this until this very minute. Your long post explaining it did not help your cause in the least. It sounds like your friend Michael is full of woo bullshit. You’re free to believe as much of this as you want but I doubt you’ll sell much (any) of this kind of crazy around here.

If you have to use something as stupid as channeling to prop up your shitty self-help lectures, you need better philosophies.

You all are just jealous that you’re not an “Old Soul” like me. It’s ok. I’m above such things. I only want what is best for you on your journey. I just wish you were able to understand my genius as it is so full of genius that regular genius just can’t understand.

May you live a life full of love and may you poop on a daily basis.

God Bless you and Him Always!!!

In all fairness - I don’t think it is any worse than the rest of the woo based religions out there.

I’m guessing the physiological processess involved in using a ouija board (assuming that is what they are doing) - is convincing to some people. I doubt we are their target audience.

I never heard of it before, and obviously this is an old post, but as I think someone else pointed out - the friend’s unusual behavior could have led her to this group - and it isn’t necessarily that the group is brain washing her.
