Anyone have implants?

Dental implants, you perverts.

I have an upper canine or whatever it’s called that never got replaced by an adult tooth, so it’s always been kind of shrunken and wiggly. Then, the tooth behind it got root-canaled out. Two years ago, my dentist put a double crown on them, but I broke the temporary (twice), then broke the first permanent (one of those newfangled plastic ones), and had it replaced with a nice silver-based one. Now tonight, two years later, I’m eating a goddamn Pop Tart and the silver crown broke loose and I nearly swallowed the freaking thing. It’s obvious why it came loose - the little stubs of tooth it was attached to are almost totally eroded, maybe a sixteenth of an inch left above the gumline. No wonder they’ve been hurting the last two weeks.

I want implants…does anyone have experience with them? Did it hurt to have them put in? How long does it take to get the whole thing done? Do they give you any trouble? Is there anything special you have to do to take care of them? I’m looking for personal experience, not dental advice, unless there’s some bored D.D.S. out there who wants to give me a free consult.
