Unless you’ve been living under a rock shielded from the unending blitz of Microsoft marketing, you know that Halo 2 will be out next week. I’ve been toying with the idea of buying Live, but I don’t want to spend the money only to find out that the only people on it are my 12 year old neighbor and his hoard of pre-pubescent friends. Anyone have it? Love it, hate it? I know that original Halo didn’t support Live, but experiences using it with other games would be appreciated.

It would be nice to get a list together of people who’d like to play. I’m pretty sure I’m going to break down and buy a subscription and a headset. Resistance is futile.
yeah you will get run into some asses, but generally when you play you find some cool people and you put them on your friends list. that list lets you know when they are online and you can send or receive invitations. all in all it takes about 2 minutes tops to find a good game if you get some idiots just try again. currently playing dead or alive ultimate, project gotham, splinter cell and starwars battlefront.
Yeah , never got the point of releasing H1 without having a live capability built in. But so far the only games that I have played live , happen to be crimson skies and starwars clone wars.
I pre-ordered. It had better be waiting for me at Best Buy or they will have 5’1" of white hot fury on their hands. Yes, I’m putting my trust in Best Buy. :dubious:
I have Star Wars Battlefront and I just can’t get into it for some reason. Am I missing something? I can only play in single player or coop mode right now so I’m guessing it must be more fun on Live.
All I know is that here in my town, about 200 people were turned away when best Buy randomly didn’t have any copies of Grand Theft Auto on release day, and this isn’t anything new with Best Buy, either. I definitely don’t trust them with any pre-order.
I called the local Best Buy to ask about pre-orders. He was upfront and said I’d be better off going to Software, Etc. That was pretty cool. They’ll still get my money for all other stuff.

Anyhow, I also pre-ordered Halo 2 with Best Buy so they better pull through, or there will be great suffering in Albuquerque.
As far as xbox Live goes, I haven’t tried it yet. I usually only play PC games online (U2K4 anyone?). If it looks like an xbox live DopeFragFest will become commonplace, I’ll probably pony up for a subscription.
There is no story arc - you just re-inact the battles from Clone Wars, etc… It’s definitely made for Live because I got bored with the single player in about an hour.
I’ll get a subscription to Live after I finish Halo’s single player campaign then I’ll let you know my handle - I’m keeping track of everyone elses. I’m not sticking with “velveeta” - not that there is anything wrong with processed cheese product.
And, duffer, you are not inspiring confidence. Lie to me! Tell me that Best Buy always comes through and that they are 100% commited to customer service.

Rest assured that on Nov. 9th, Best Buy will have thousands and thousands of copies of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Battle for Bikini Bottom on hand to give out to their happy customers.
Try to find an EB Games or something in the middle of the suburbs. The one in the mall nearest me presold 1500 copies. The one in a strip mall next to my house insuburbia is closer to 200.
It’s not even really that, just don’t ever preorder something from a mall electronics store. Here in Tucson we have a Gamestop in a strip mall that presold 500 copies of Halo 2, and a Software Etc (same company mind you) in an actual mall, literally a block away, that presold 1800.
From what I’ve seen of Best Buy, EB Games, and Software Etc/Gamestop, Software Etc/Gamestop is much, MUCH better with preorders. I mean, it’s not even close. They tend to sell out of everything else real fast though.

I’m not even going on Live until I beat the single-player campaign on legendary. I’m all too familiar with getting my ass handed to me on gamespy arcade and xboxconnect.

They took out the ability to leapfrog in COOP mode on legendary. You know how you could send your teammate off to take one for the team - maybe slaughter a few aliens before getting fragged - and then he’d respawn safely back at your side only to be sent out again? All gone.
They also nerfed my beloved pistol. *sniff
