I wanted to throw a really basic site together for tomorrow so I downloaded Joomla as it looks like something I could use. I did this just after noon today. I just got home at 9:30 PM and followed the login instructions, and it seemed to work fine, until I tried to log in to the actual site to start doing stuff. I can’t. It says either my name and password don’t match or I don’t have an account. I tried to go on to the Forums on Joomla’s site for help and couldn’t log in to do so. The only thing I could do was use the link to email the board admin, and apparently that link is to a no-reply address that doesn’t accept email. So I’m pretty frustrated right now. Any suggestions?
Alternately, I’m now looking suggestions as to a basic WYSIWYG builder that I can do for now. I have the domain and hosting, I just need the design.
Thanks!
It should have asked you for a password when you ran the setup. Did it not do that?
Anyway, you can reset the password in the database. Instructions here.
I read it, but I have no idea what much of it means. I am not a programmers. Maybe this is not the right program for me then.
You don’t need to be a programmer to understand Joomla, but it helps if you know HTML & CSS fairly well.
Did you set up a Joomla database on your site - via MySQL or some other database software? That needs to be done before Joomla is fully installed and the password/username combo for that database is the same for logging in to Joomla.
I’m not a Joomla user so can’t respond to that question, but for basic site stuff, I find WordPress very easy to use.
There is not difference between Joomla and Wordpress! they both looks the same for non-programmers…
I don’t get your problem yet!
How did you install Joomla the first time? Why not simply delete everything and re-install it?
