Anyone here win any major sporting event in college?

Inspired by this thread.

It’s a lot easier to win a national championship in college than it is to be a professional player in anything, so I want to pose the question.

I am leaving it open to pretty much anything. Were you the third safety option for a national championship football team? List it. Won in gymnastics? List it. Win the SEC championship in golf? List it.
I didn’t win jack anything, but I would love to know if anyone else did.

Huh? Tons of guys make the pros without having won a national championship. Look at the NFL Draft. Florida had a few guys drafted, but that only amounts to a fraction of the 224 guys selected this year.

I was on the 2004 RMAC champion football team. I’m not sure if thats major enough though (D2)

Well yeah…but as the NCAA commercial says. “There are 1000s of NCAA athletes, and almost all of us are going pro in something other than sports”

So like I said, it’s a lot easier to be a 5th WR option for an SEC winning team and not even get a sniff in the NFL than it is to be drafted.

That’s not even in the same zip code as what you originally said.

I twice won the National Student Croquet Championship in the UK. Probably not what you were really thinking of, but it counts!

I won what is now the NCAA title (it was the National Collegiate Rowing Championship because the NCAA hadn’t gotten its grubby paws on the sport yet) in 1994.

I was inducted into my undergraduate university’s Hall of Fame on the strength of that and a pretty damn successful post-collegiate career that included subsequent national club titles and strong finishes in some international regattas.

Congratulations to you!

Me? I’ve been to NCAA regional finals. :stuck_out_tongue:
