We’re moving to SC, and have just bought (well, fingers crossed this sale goes through, it’s been a bear to get done but that’s another rant) a nice piece of property with a doublewide on it currently. If we like it there and decide to stay we’ll build a house, but for the moment, doublewide it is. The house is also surrounded by mature pecan trees, lovely shade but in a major storm they could do some damage.
I’ve been doing some research and it seems that tornadoes have become more prevalent in that area, and we’re about 100 miles from the coast so hurricanes could possibly be a factor too. I think a storm shelter would be a good investment, but I’m leery of buying while it’s the new hot thing to buy - I don’t want to get scammed by a fly-by-night business.
All this long winded blather is a roundabout way of saying that I want a shelter, don’t yet know what I’m looking for really, anyone in the Dopesphere have any experience with same?
