Anyone interested in doing creative writing exercises?

My idea is that we could regularly do creative writing exercises, like “write about things that are red” or “write a sestina using these words”. We could start a new thread for it once a week, or more often. I think it could be fun. It gives people a chance to practice or try out writing.

Anyone interested?

If we were to do this, would anyone be willing to step up and start the threads/come up with exercises? I’m not good at taking charge or following through on things. If people are interested but no one wants to run it then I’d be willing to try, but I don’t think I’d be very good at it. Another option would be to alternate and a different person start a thread each week.

The way I envision this is:
It’s something that would friendly to people who are new at writing or whose writing skills are less developed. Which isn’t to say that more experienced writers shouldn’t join in.
The exercise would posted and people would write what comes to mind. You’re not supposed to worry about the quality of your writing, just write. It’s okay if it’s bad writing, in fact it probably will be. The idea is to write anyway to develop your skills. You don’t have to post what you’ve written, but I would encourage everyone to do so, even if it’s bad.
Just make make sure you read this from the bottom of the page:

We could work out the details of how it would go, those are just my ideas. And that’s only if people are interested. For all I know everyone will think this is a stupid idea.

I don’t think it’s a stupid idea, but I do think it’s probably an unworkable one here.

I just don’t think we would have enough people interested in specific types of writing to make it worthwhile, and most things other than a poem would be too long for others to read through with any regularity.

Even on poetry-dedicated boards, the level of commitment to challenges/exercises is wildly variable.

I’ll happily be proved wrong, though.
