Anyone know about working in Dubai?

I have a friend currently doing interviews with Jumeirah Int’l for secretarial and activity planning positions for the hotel industry. Owing to the fact that these interviews are here in Prague, CZ, I am wondering why the company is trying to fill positions with Central Europeans. I assume it is because they can get higher quality individuals for a cheaper price (basic economics). However, I am originally from Colorado, so I know how the resort industry can sometimes not be the best situation for the employee’s. I had friends living five to an apartment, making minimum wage, and sometimes working un-paid overtime just to have the ‘privilege’ of working in Aspen, CO. Could my friend run into a similar situation in Dubai? She has six years experience working in HR (training, planning) for Phillip Morris (HUGE Int’l co.). I know she would bring a lot of talent to the job, but would it be worth her while? I hope so, but I am sceptical because of past experience.

Anyone done something like this or know anything about it?

Maybe I posted this in the wrong forum, this IS General, but…
I’ll re-post IMHO…

Tomcat, when situations such as this arise, we really prefer if you email one of us and ask us to move the thread rather than double posting.

No harm done, I’ll just close this copy. But please remember for the next time.

Thanks.
