I am currently reading the Last of the Mohicans (James Fenimore Cooper) in school, and I have been challeneged to write a thesis. We are supposed to come up with some kind of question, or topic, related to the story, and then write our statement.
I guess what I am getting at is this. If anyone has done this before, or has some good ideas related to what I am doing, I would love to hear them. I have only written a handful of thesis statements before (and I have always had the topic in front of me), so any suggestions, or ideas, would be awesome. I guess that is why I put this in IMHO, so I can get ytour opinions. Thanks a lot…

Are you looking for advice on thesis statements generally, or on those related to “Last of the Mohicans” specifically?
start paper…
(Lead in): Okay, basically you write a lead paragraph - like this one- which outlines some general things and stuff you’ll be getting into in greater detail. After doing this you sum up a main thesis. That is the basics. The lead paragraph, then a statement which nails your “point”.
(Statement): Thesis writing can prove to be an effective way of teaching students to write effectively (that is the statement - it sits there alone, then is supported by the body of the work below, in separate paragraphs).
(Support)First, using effective…blah blah (continue to make point supporting statement)
(Support)Second, several scientists have demonstrated blah blah
(Spupport)Finally, the brain grows 2% after every thesis. The mind grows by 4% as show by…
(Summary closing)So, you can see that by using effective blah blah, understanding the scientists blah blha and watching your brain grow that thesis writing is effective.
If it’s a specific question about the Mohicans, forget it - We don’t do homework here.

Thanks a lot Philster… your first reply was very helpful…
In response to your question, yes, it *is[/is] specifically about LotMohicans, but I am not asking you for a thesis, but ideas on writing them, and possible topics. NOT for the actual thesis. Thanks…
