Anyone Know This (kids') Book?

A child I nannied for a long time ago had this book, and I would love to get it for my own child, but can’t remember what it was called.

IIRC, the characters were two little monkeys, named Minnie and Freddie. It starts out with Freddie saying,
“Play with me, Minnie, Play with me, please.”

“Not now! Can’t you see? I’m eating spaghetti!”

Minnie raves throughout the book about her love of spaghetti (“I love it, I love it, I love it, I do! I love it so much…”

“More than me?!” “More than you!”

I tried looking for it on Amazon under what I thought the title might be, and mainly came up with books about Freddie Prinze, Jr.
Does anyone else know this book? Or can anyone suggest another online source for finding it?
Thanks!

Don’t remember that one. But here’s a few I do remember that I loved when I was young, and I intend get for my kids:

Where the Wild Things Are
The Diggenest Dog
all the Curious George ones
Frog and Toad

And not a book, but has anyone ever seen a cartoon called Dr. Snuggles?

I found it, Chrome

I’m a shelver at the library and I see this book just about every day, but I still didn’t know the title.

I popped onto B&N and did a search for monkey. One of the books it brought up was More Spaghetti, I Say! by Rita Golden Gelman.

So now I feel like a complete idiot because I see the old, faded library version of this book on my cart ready to be put away every time in go in there

But there ya go. You have the name now  Glad I could find it for you. I know how irritating it is when you just can’t remember the title of that great book.

Oh, and there’s another book I see all the time by the same author. Pizza Pat. If you enjoy this one, you might enjoy more by that author.

Who’s Omni?

Mmm, sure…listen…
Do you think I could interest you in a pair of zircon-encrusted tweezers?

Dr. Snuggles, King of the Animal world, de do de do de do do
Dr. Snuggles, baah de blah… something…
so you remember that obviously sexually repressed badger he hung around with?

well, at least one person wants to meet me…

Cheers!!

TaleraRis, Thank you so much!! How cool! (and I do mean “yippeee!”)

Babar, I have all of those already, except for The Diggenest Dog. Never heard of that one, but I’ll have to look into it, since all of the rest of your suggestions are among my top choices. (Did you know that a whole new compilation of Curious George stories came out in '99? The New Adventures. Pretty cool; 8 new stories.)

My daughter is 11 months old today, but she already has a pretty extensive library. ('course so far, aside from her little board books, it’s all my favorites :))

BTW never heard of Dr. Snuggles

Well, I’m off to the book store!! Thanks again!

Omni is Omniscient, Beau. I met him at the Spiffled get together.

How about Tomie De Paola’s books? I had The Popcorn Book as a child, and thought it was pretty neat.

I don’t remember the lyrics to the song. But Dr. Snuggles with this old British dude who hung out with weird animals and went on neat adventures. My favorite was when someone stole huge blocks for water from the ocean. My grandma taped the episodes when she was over seas and gave them to us kids. It’s a part of our family tradition now. And yes, that weasel or badger or whatever really needed some tail.

So how was the ride?

Details, girl, details!

Anyone else remember one of MY childhood favorites- Lazy Tommy Pumpkinhead by William Pene Du Bois?

Cecil said it. I believe it. That settles it.

I remember Lazy Tommy! I liked everything W. P. DuB. wrote, really.

Anyone remember Maurice Sendak’s Nutshell Library? Alligators All Around (Ordering Oatmeal, Pushing People) and (sipping once, sipping twice, sipping) Chicken Soup with Rice? I forget what the third book was.

I guess I’m just better off living with my inner tensions.

Dr Snuggles was narrated by Sir Peter Ustinov.

Though you probably don’t know who that is, so I guess this was a pointless post
