I referenced this book in a post on the IMHO board, and now it’s driving me crazy that I can’t think of the exact title of the book.
I found it in paperback about 3-4 years ago, and as best I can recall, the plot is something like this: A major airport is changing over its air traffic control system, I believe from sight primarily to a new-fangled radar system that’s ten times the previous radar system. The villain murders his wife, someone to get their car, I believe, and I think a stripper … a stripclub is mentioned in the book, now that I think about it. For some reason the line spoken by the cop character “I smiled as I thought about raising my shield and having all the men in light pants stand up” just popped into my mind.
Anyway, I believe the man eventually makes his way to the airport and gets into the tower, disabling the radar system and taking hostages in the tower … all the while allowing (and quite possibly demanding) that flights continue – with the eventual goal of two specific airplanes crashing into each other his final goal.
Fortunately, the cop (on the outside) and a heroic air traffic controller (on the inside) thwart his plans and save the day.
Wow … it’s amazing how much I remember of this book I read twice all those years ago. But still … does ANYone know the name of this book?? Thanks in advance.
