Anyone know what happened to Vitamin Water?

Vitamin Water has become Coke’s alternative to Gatorade (which Pepsico bought in 2001, after a bidding war with Coke). Coke used to push Powerade as their Gatorade knock-off, but, these days, it seems that Vitamin Water may be their preferred brand to push in that area.

Which is odd, because Powerade is the number two brand of sports-drink. Again, they’re attacking their own product.

That’s not a sign of popularity. It’s a sign of a sponsorship deal.

More competition? Not from “sports drinks” but from “enhanced” water, like Propel and Smart Water.

I noticed recently that they’re redoing the labels and making them shinier, and that Sync (berry-cherry) is now Download. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

I know that the Best Buy I used to work at had a reduced selection compared to the grocery stores and that among the grocery stores the selection isn’t completely consistent. Some stores have Balance (grapefruit-cranberry) and some don’t. Very frustrating.
