Anyone knowledgeable about the Wii U?

Please… no one liners saying that you know it sucks… that won’t help me.

I got the 32 GB version for my kids for Christmas. The laser died on the original Wii they had. I went through the process of the system transfer, and it went as planned. However, tonight they decided to fire up Rock Band II for the first time on the new box and all of the songs we’d previously downloaded were nowhere to be found. Ok, a pain, but not the end of the world. I can re-download them. After 5 songs I started getting a message that there was no space available? Bwuh? I show 25 GB free. That’s from the Wii U menu though, and RBII is accessed from the classic menu. Does it really use separate memory space? (And no, it’s not telling me that the SD card is out of space, I checked.)

As I understand it, the classic mode on Wii U is basically just an emulator, and as such it can’t access any more of the system memory than the original Wii was able to.

System transfer? It can port things over from your previous Wii? I hadn’t heard of that feature. That moves it up a couple of notches on my buy list…

Yes, game save data and such works fine. As my post indicates, not everything comes along though.

I was mainly concerned about my bought-and-paid-for Virtual Console games, but it looks like 99% of those work fine for transfer.

Yes, and if they don’t transfer you can re-download them.
