I work on Sunday mornings, and I’ve gotten into the habit of listening to “American Top 40: The 70’s” on Seattle’s 95.7 FM. They basically take a random week of the old Casey Kasem countdown and play it start to finish. It’s amazing how many great songs that have been forgotten. Especially among R&B artists; we tend to think of classic rock and disco when we think of the 70s, but probably half the decades’ hits were actually R&B. Plus it’s amazing how much more diverse pop radio was back then. One show actually had Merle Haggard, Marvin Gaye, Tony Orlando, Grand Funk, and Cheech & Chong–in the same hour! Anyone else caught (or remember) this show?
