At the doctor’s office today, the only magazine in the examining room was one on biking. There was a fascinating article about the Pedersonbicycle, a strange-looking thing that has a fanatical following and is supposed to be very comfortable and stable. Apparently the seat isn’t fixed but is sort of a sling.
Wow, that’s a really cool design. The hammock-y seat looks like it could potentially be a lot more comfortable than a traditional bike seat*. I like how it approaches some issues from a totally different angle, like having the suspension through the seat design.
I’ve never found a single bike seat that was anything even approaching “comfortable”. The best I’ve ever gotten to has been “tolerable”. I’ve tried multiple seats and used each quite awhile to adjust to them, but no real winner.
