What are some of the strangest events you’ve seen?
In Football Manager I’ve seen a player push a ref and take a 6 month break, but that doesn’t compare to OOTP.
I’ve seen a player retire cause his dying brother needs his kidney.
I saw a pitcher get some fingers cut off and reattached after a lawn mower accident. I never bothered to see how he got on after that.
Which version is it?
I used to love OOTP, and then at some point about five years ago the game’s interface just became too Byzantine for me. It went from being easy to figure out how to get a league up and started to being a 23-click nightmare to see who was on my roster.
Never heard of it before, but it sounds like the Oregon Trail of baseball.

It’s not too complicated…unless i want to download actual cards or pictures…THAT’S kind of a pain in the ass.
I play it and if you love baseball with do many different options to play it might be WORTH a try.
Another reason I love it is that it was created by 2 Germans in Germany. They are also very approachable and listen to their fan base.
We have an OOTP SDMB online league run by Zev Steinhart. There are periodic openings when owners drop out.
We are using whatever the latest version is.
We currently have an opening, if anyone is interested.
We’re currently on version 17. It’s an easy-going league. In-season, we sim once a week (with each sim covering half a month). Out of season, we sim about 2-3 times a week (with each sim lasting one week).
We’ve been playing since 2002 (I can’t believe it’s been 15 years!) and will be starting our 30th season shortly (we just started Spring Training).
