I’m considering going to the Green Day concert at Wrigley Field on August 24. Anyone seen them recently? Might be an interesting show in the Trump era.
I’m going to the Wrigley Field concert with my son, who is a big Green Day fan. I haven’t seen them before myself but I too am interested in what they’ll do. I have little doubt that they’ll play American Idiot during the set.
I saw them two years ago as the lead entertainment at a conference. Bands at these kinds of events often phone it in, but Green Day brought it. Sounded great, fantastic energy. I would definitely pay to see them again.
I have never seen them but I’ve read some reviews of their 2016 shows and they were quite favorable.
most recent setlist.
I saw them in 2014.
I enjoyed it, but one thing really bothered me. I became a Green Day fan in high school when American Idiot came out. I never saw them live but listened to their live album “Bullet in a Bible” a ton. And when I saw them in 2014… it was pretty much the same show. Sure, the songs were in a different order and there were some newer ones thrown in there. But the banter, goofing around, jam sessions were the same thing they’ve been doing the past ten years. King For A Day had the part where they slow it down, Tre sings for a few seconds, they then go into shout, then play a bit of Always Look on the Bright Side of life… All the same.
Still fun, though. I guess.
If you’re a fan, yes. Otherwise, no.
