Anyone seen "The Beach Boys" without Brian?

The Beach Boys are coming around in May, but I think it’s the Mike Love/Al Jardine incarnation without Brian Wilson (it’s actually hard to say because a bunch of 60-somethings aren’t the best internet self-promoters.) As far as I know, there are 2 bands calling themselves The Beach Boys right now, one with Brian and one with Mike and Al.

So has anyone seen the latter? Are they good? Do they play Good Vibrations, songs off Pet Sounds, and other Brian-oriented stuff, or is it all Surfin’ Safari and Be True to Your School?

Watching them tear each other and the band to bits over the years made me so sad. I still listen to their albums but I have no desire to see them live. I’m not sure I’d even see Brian solo, although I might.

:frowning:

I heard one of the two Beach Boys perform on one of PBS’s Fourth of July concerts. The lead singer Mike Love sounded horrible. (They sang “Kokomo,” one of my favorites- when it’s sung well.)

Two Beach Boys? I’m pretty sure Brian doesn’t tour under that moniker anymore. And even back when he was writing the songs for the Beach Boys, he often times would shy away from joining them on tour.

For a while, I think Al Jardine was touring with one or both or Brian’s daughters as “The Beach Boys & Friends” and got slapped with a lawsuit for his trouble.

Well if you look around, there are 2 different “Beach Boys” websites with different tour dates on them. Neither one of them list a lineup that I could find.

I’m still pretty sure neither of those contain Brian. He tours under his own name now.
