Just curious. There’s this statistic that’s something like: If you put 100 people in a room, there’s a 70% chance that two will share a birthday. I figure with so many Dopers, SOMEONE must share my day–March 11th.
Eldest Son will be fifteen on March 11.

I have never met anyone with my birthday–October 16.
Yet I know (or have known) four people with August 19 birthdays and six with September 29.
I spent a significant part of my first 18 years in the same room with someone who shared my birthday: my mom (Jan. 27, also the birthday of Mozart and Lewis Carroll, not to mention Bridget Fonda, who was born on the same day of the same year as I was – pretty good company, all in all). Actually, we believe the doctors may have fudged my birth certificate (I was officially born at 11:58 PM on my mom’s b-day), but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
One of my dad’s brothers has a daughter born on my dad’s birthday, and I have personally known two other parent-child duos who shared the same birthday. My son missed my wife’s d-day by two days (his is today, hers is Friday).

There’s a reason why September is the most common birth month. Does anyone else other than myself know why?

Amazingly, I have met several people with my birthday. At least 7 or 8. It’s March 1st, happy birthday to me and all those 7 or 8!!
Mine’s August 29th.
There are only two people whom I aware of who share my birthday. One of them is Michael Jackson.
Now you should understand why I keep mum about this…
My birthday is August 10…I share it with an aunt. Our family has another aunt/cousin set who share August 6.
aha - my mom & my father-in-law have Nov. 17th as their birthday.
Sho nuff – the probability that, in a room of 22 people, two of those people share the same birthday is about 0.5, or 1/2. As the number of people in the room gets close to 100, the probability that 2 people DON’T share the same birthday becomes vanishingly small.
Note, though, that nobody ever said the probability that someonw will have the same birthday as YOU, only that two people will have the same birthday.

December 6th here… my parents obviously had a few cold February months because I have a sis and a bro who are both in the same week as me.

Shoot, I barely got into the world and was already sharing my b-day with my mom’s mom(which happes to be exactly one week after my mother’s b-day, who shares her b-day with my father’s sister). Yeah, September babies… MUCHO frolicking over the Xmas/New Years holidays!

I have the same birthday (Feb 14) as fellow doper Diane.
