Anyone still watching AMC's "Hell On Wheels?"

Yeah, they’re trying to save Sidney’s life. If he dies, Ruth will be charged with murder. Recall that Bohannan gave his word to Campbell that he would uphold the law. Now that promise is coming back to bite him.

Only

would keep us in suspense about Sidney’s survival. This is the “quality” series that gave us two episodes of Elam’s contract negotiations bullshit episodes. Personally, I don’t see the problem with Ruth shooting Sidney. He didn’t lawfully surrender to Bohannan’s request and was wanted for the murder of several men in the church and Ezra. Resisting arrest.

Personally I was hoping that Ezra was going to be the loose end that eventually got Gunderson hanged.

I thought so too; Ezra witnessed Gunderson (“The Swede”) murdering his parents and I thought Ezra would eventually testify to that. But after Gunderson admitted the murders to Brigham Young, it became unnecessary. Brigham Young seems to find him too useful to have him arrested.

The SO and I both thought Ezra would come into play against Gundersen. I pointed out a couple of weeks ago that Brigham Young knew that Gundersen was an impostor who killed the real bishop, and he used him anyway. I thought at that point that Ezra was irrelevant, unless Young needed a witness to dispose of Gundersen. I really didn’t think Ezra would die, until the fire. (ISTR an insert shot of the floor at one point.)

Matt Dillon lives.

Okay. I wasn’t watching closely so didn’t really catch that, whether or not it was in the scenes from next week.

It pisses me off. It’s a device used way too often. If he is such a good character and actor, don’t write him to his death multiple times then save him with some bullshit. It’s lazy writing, in my opinion, and makes me less likely to watch.
