Anyone use SquareTrade for insuring a handheld?

When I got my Android phone, the “everything under the sun” insurance was about 7 dollars a month (this was 3ish months ago). 99 dollar deductible.

I ordered an iPhone for my husband yesterday, they wanted 11 dollars for the same sort of coverage 169.00 deductible. I declined.

A friend mentioned SquareTrade as a better option - 99 dollars for 2 years’ coverage.

Any opinions on them? The advantage of the Verizon-sponsored coverage is that presumably we could go to a local store for help for problems (as opposed to loss/theft obviously), while I assume we’d need to mail the device off to a Squaretrade shop in the same situation.

I used them for several electronics purchases where they were a *very *good deal. When I checked them out for our cell phones, though, it wasn’t as good a deal with the coverage provided compared to what the phones cost and the deductible, but your situation may vary. I don’t think it was an “everything under the sun” policy. Call them up and have them explain the procedure for whether you’d have to mail it in or not. They’re pretty good with phone support.
