I’ve had a Photobucket account for more than 10 years. Rarely need it, but when I have, it’s worked pretty smoothly.
I need it now. Logged in, found my various old Albums. ( SDMB Photo Assignment Project !
) and so on.
However- it’s remarkably slow and every time I click on anything at all, another page launches. It feels like the entire thing is hacked and full of bugs.
I’d be glad to pull down my Albums and move to another storage source. ( NOT "the Cloud.) But I cannot even download my portfolio Album- nothing happens, and extra pages launch.
Is this site a lost cause??
make sure you update your anti-virus definitions and other security sentinels. scan your computer with your arsenal to establish a clean bill of health. there’s a plethora of agents out there to assist in your endeavors. scan/download ad-blocker and utilize it to block the bs photobucket tries forcing down your throat.
keep in mind … photobucket is a free web-site … ads help it to continue functioning. also remind yourself image-links may break if you reorganize your folders or close your account. not sure what all you clicked on … no windows opened up when i accessed my account this past weekend. sure your computer is clean? you might check photobucket assist for specifics … aka support.photobucket.com/hc/en-us.
Confession: I hate PhotoBucket and I usually don’t bother if someone posts a PB link.
PS: Surely you meant to start this thread in IMHO. I’ll report it.
I used to use PB, but I hate the way the links go to entire albums, instead of single pics in an album. I might want to link a pic of some specific thing, here on SDMB, without sharing all of my other pics!
(Um… What’s a good photo sharing site that lets you share individual pics?)
If you have many, Picasa was the best but Google killed it and it is now Google Pics. Still free if you have a lot and even more if you knock them down to 300K or less in a standard size. ( 800 600 ) or some such. 1200 x 800 at 300K is plenty good for computer monitors to look at.
GP has a little learning curve and like smart phones, you need to get help from those that went before you unless you are pretty good at figuring what they have done.
All the standard ones PB, IMGR, FLICKER Etc. do not like to do what I want.
Everything is too invasive and getting all the info on us so I am looking at an old puter running Linux as my own server as I do not need a web page or anything but serving up my pics and I do not really have but a few steady lookers.
