Anyone wanna grab lunch in Tokyo?

I’m meeting up with a friend in Tokyo on July 30th in the late afternoon, but I’m getting a night bus down from the previous evening and will have from about 8AM to kill some time. Anyone wanna grab some food? I can do breakfast or coffee in the morning if anyone wants to do that. As long as I can make it to Tokyo eki by about 4 I’m pretty well free.

I’d love to but I’m on the other side of the world. Sorry.

You’re a month early - I’ll be there in late August.

Just as an aside - if you’re in the Tokyo area in the evening, you must go to Andy’s. I eat out a lot, but this is easily my favorite restaurant in the world.

I’ve been going here for about 15 years, and Andy is an icon. You’ll probably want to get reservations if you’re with people, it gets crowded.

Sounds like you’re already in Japan, but just in case - it is brutally hot this summer. Dress accordingly…

Thanks for the tip DragonAsh, I’ll see if I can get in there. And I’ll be thinking of you while eating in Tokyo, Caractacus.

Just figured I’d bump this thread once to see if anyone missed it the first time around. Probably not, but worth a shot.

It wouldn’t be right to visit now. The Cadbury Eggs would melt in the Tokyo summer heat.

I’m jealous. I was trying to make a Japan trip work for December, but I now know that’s not happening. :frowning:

楽しい時を過ごし!Have fun!

Well, if someone could spot me plane fare, accommodations, and pocket money from Toronto…

I would like to grab lunch, but I expect I’ll be super busy taking care of the newbs. You know how it is this time of year. I assume you’ll be back in time for Nebuta?

Last time I was at Tokyo I ate at this 300-year-old tofu restaurant. Never knew tofu could be so good: http://www.sasanoyuki.com/

Is the restaurant 300 years old or is the tofu? It makes a difference.

miss you by 3 days. Am currently in Osaka on a music video shoot and in Tokyo for 1 day wednesday.

If you haven’t been there recommend you go check out the tiny Izakaya’s at Chomben Yokocho (Piss alley) just near the north exit of Shinjuku. Head out turn right past the Uniqlo and then cross over the road and look for the tiny alley inbetween two buildings.

Best Yakatori I ever had in Japan in those places… and cheap (for tokyo) as well.

I’d love to but I just looked up the price of flights. Maybe another time.

Bumpity. I’ll be at Andy’s on the 23rd (Tuesday), so anyone that wants to stop by, PM me.

Friend of mine was in Tokyo on business last week. Made the mistake of hopping into a sushi restaurant in Ginza for lunch. One of those very high-end places that doesn’t have prices on the menu, mainly because they don’t have a menu.

She said it was one of the best meals she’d ever had in her life, but she wasn’t sure her company would reimburse her for her $250 lunch…
