I’ve got a gently used 2008 Mazda 3 with no body damage, low miles and new tires.
The only problem is that it was parked in Cincy and they had this thing called flash flooding. It spent a night totally submerged.
So, it doesn’t run, the electronics are fried, the interior is trashed, and it smells like sewer water.
But other than that… like I said, low miles and new tires!
Make me an offer!
And before a Mod comes by thinking this should be moved to the Market Place… I don’t really expect a serious offer, I’m sure the car is totaled. But then again, if someone has a goat or something they want to trade I would consider it.
You know the saying about when life gives you lemons… it seems like after the last few months I could keep everyone in the whole world full of lemonade for the next few years. I’m an optimist so I think all of the bad crap is happening now so I can move on to the good stuff soon.
TIL Cincinnati had flooding! Didn’t hear about it on the news at all.
Sorry Spud, flooding sucks. There’s a reason why they total almost any car involved in a flood. You might be able to entirely strip it and have a stinky autocross car or a racer for the local dirt track in their econobox FWD class. Racing it into the ground would be a great Viking funeral and you wouldn’t have to worry about getting it road worthy.
55 year old guy driving a stripped down stinky cheap car on a dirt track (assuming we could get it running)… I can see those bikinis being stripped off already!
You need to get it into a museum - come up with a thought-provoking title that explains why it’s a symbol of the eternal quest for love and self-fulfillment in an ever-changing, more impersonal world.
When I was a teenager there was a continuing urban myth about being able to buy an almost-new Corvette for only $X. The only thing wrong with it was that someone had died in it, wasn’t discovered for several weeks, and the dead body smell had been absorbed into every part of the car.
You missed the mini-stroke (aka TIA) I had a few weeks ago.
There was also that pizza where they forgot the banana peppers (I may not have posted about that).
Life balances out… I’m working on scheduling a vacation since I’m still technically employed for a couple more weeks in the travel industry. I’m taking my mom and my sister’s family in one of my favorite places (Hilton Head). I haven’t seen them in a couple of years and that was at my Dad’s funeral. This one will be free, and hopefully less somber… but I also found out I’m now qualified to rent one condo at the employee rate per year. Based on my tenure I get the “retiree benefit.”
All three kids are healthy and doing great in school. My wife still has a good job and we can switch our insurance to her company. The one with the flooded car is on the soccer team and she told me today that everyone on the team including the coaches have offered to loan her a car whenever she needs it.
Life goes on… you can’t change it, but you can deal with it.
We just donated one to Goodwill a couple of months ago. I expected to get about $1k but it sold for $1,900 at auction.
My daughter is with the adjuster now… a complete total. He is marking the water lines… not on the side, but on the roof. It is frustrating to be two hours away and not able to help her, but I guess this is a part of her becoming an adult. We haven’t worked out a settlement, but the bad thing about keeping your cars in great shape is that they will likely offer you the price for one in average condition. Had we known we could have had fun and trashed it and come out the same. We could have saved tons on detailing. :smack:
