We were looking at a 1750s farmhouse in southern Maine when my husband found this thingdangling from the basement ceiling. He didn’t focus correctly, though, and the photo didn’t turn out. The body was a bit bigger around than a quarter, he says (I didn’t go look at it, because, ick.) But seeing the photo, I’ve never seen another spider like it, and it’s sort of cool, in an icky way.
