This is my first fantasy league and I’m really enjoying it too. Sadly, missing the first two races and the very small margin between points means I probably won’t creep past last place, but I never was a very competitive person anyway. I just like checking and seeing I got more points each week. :stuck_out_tongue: And reading driver and track analyses, which I never did before, means I’m learning a whole lot more about the sport, which is great!

I have a similar experience. It does change the nature of watching. The thing that I find amusing is ending up routing for drivers I don’t particularly like, just because I have them in the pool this week.

Don’t you worry! Make It Stop Racing missed the first race, and he’s already passed two people who’ve been involved since the beginning. Your per-race average is well above mine. At this rate, you’ll pass me in 2-3 weeks. I should change my name to Michael Waltrip Racing.

This year, work has blocked the league pages. This year, I’ve not had a lot of computer time at home to make my choices.

This year, my choices have really sucked.

I like fiddling around with choices for days prior to the race, but when you can only do it from home, after spending all day on the computer, it gets tough. The Butlerette doesn’t understand that daddy needs to sit and analyze his choices!

Looks like this’ll be more of a “play” year for my fantasy NASCAR leagues. Still fun, but I’m far from competative.

In the spirit of the above quote, I feel the need to point out that believe that the BBW (fat lady) has not only warmed up, but she’s just about finished with her tune. Due to my 400 point lead going into the last week, I believe the race for first in our league is pretty much over. It looks like about four of you are in a heck of a battle for second though.

Now, help me out before I break my own arm patting myself on the back.

Way to go! Hopefully next year I can get in on this without missing the first two races.

Yes, it looks like the big race this weekend is for second place. It’s amazing that, out of ~9,000 points, three of us are within five points of each other and a fourth is only 20 points behind. (My team is “Shark Week.”)

This has been a lot of fun. My friends are all sick of hearing me talk about it. And I’ve learned a lot about NASCAR this year. I no longer think it’s “drive fast, turn left”; as Kasey Kahne said, it’s more like chess at 180 mph. To which I would add, “with crashing.”

Can you post the totals for the year? Though I had to drop out many months ago, it was a blast the year before…

Hopefully next year, I’ll be able to keep an active team again.

Here you go:

1 RM Racing 9,723
2 Pit Bunny Racing 9,286
3 Carp of Tomorrow 9,257
4 Checkered Demon 9,239
5 Shark Week! 9,211
6 Fastlane 9,012
7 Yellow’s Not So Bad I Guess. 8,897
8 Boggette’s Team 8,808
9 Make It Stop Racing 8,393
10 Demo Racing 8,193
11 Caution Creator 8,121
12 Robot Chicken Racing 7,285

It was a pretty good season. I took the lead two to three weeks in and held it for the early part of the season. I gave it up in the middle season, but took it back and ran away during the Chase races. I achieved a personal goal of finishing in the top 99 percentile for Yahoo leagues overall. Hey, I’m supposed to be one of the racing experts around here, right?

Nice Job.

Just to brag a little myself, I wasn’t in your league, but I finished with 9,561 in mine. I beat second by 560 who beat third by 1 point.

I won $5. Recognize!

That also put me in the 97th perctentile. You must have been 99th or so.

Congrats to RM - that’s some fine pickin’ you did.

I’m already looking forward to Dayona

Checkered Demon

Good job in your league, Trunk! Since it seems like you’re talking about a Yahoo league, did you know that you can have the same team in multiple Yahoo leagues? I won two leagues with this team, both by about the same margin.

Also, congrats Pit Bunny Racing for coming out on top in the dogfight for second!

Drat. I dropped from second to fifth in one race.

Well, there’s always next year; let’s do this again!

Carp of Tomorrow here.

This was the best year for competition in a SDMB league of the three I’ve participated in and I say despite having had two of the lowest scores for individual races that I’ve ever had. Lucked out a bit in the last three races to snag third. I look forward to next year, and congrats to RogueRacer for some righteous picks.

Should have mentioned: My team was Shark Week!. (Yes, the exclamation point is mandatory, as in the title of Jeopardy!.)
