I think we might want to start a separate thread calling for newbies/new blood in a game. You’d have to get someone to GM, maybe Jonathan Chance is not that busy right now, or maybe Omniscient could run it? Objective would be to get folks who haven’t played or haven’t played an SDMB game involved, eg, not the usual suspects.

I’m at 5 games running right now. And one of them is an orphaned Twentieth Century Game that I’m having to GM by hand.

Good God. All these newbies wanting to jump into a game with Abe, Shibb, and Omni. I can remember my last game, where all the other players just casually decided to attack me all at the same time. Ah, caring and sharing, caring and sharing.
Why yes, yes we’ll teach you Diplomacy. No, it’s not complicated. Sure, you can join our game. No problem. Just a friendly game of Diplomacy, among friends. I’m sure a smart person like you will pick up the rules very quickly. Diplomacy is just like Risk, a game of military strategy. Oh, and there is an optional part of the game where people can talk to each other between moves. But you don’t need to worry about that, as long as you know how to write orders and move your units you’ll do fine.

FWIW, I was not offering to participate, it should stay limited to folks with the least experience, preferrably 2 or fewer games maybe.

Fatherhood is going well. My child is now 7 months old, if you can believe it. She’s bouncing and wiggling like crazy, and is experimenting with solid food.
I’d be interested in a game of Diplomacy, but I can’t really join a newbie game, since I’ve played 3 full games and been a sub once, and have played a few FTF games waaay back in college.
But…I’m really really gullible, so maybe I’d qualify…did you know that the word “gullible” isn’t in the dictionary? My wife told me that yesterday…

There’s a Newbie Diplomacy here that you can look at. It appears that there may be more than one person willing to GM, so have a peek.
Just a note: there’s at least one non-Doper in this game, so if you have press make sure it gets sent to the full distribution in addition to (or instead of) putting it here.
