Just babbling. A RealPolitik bug made it look like I forgot to designate a coast, which is the fourth time it’s happened in this game.
Wikkit, up drinking last night? Now let’s discuss those fleets near Denmark. I trust you don’t want to see English fleets in St. Petersburg, do you? Especially with your captains’ inability to issue sailing orders, the situation could quickly become grave.

I don’t think anyone wants english fleets in St. Pete. The whole game would go funky if we started allowing more than one unit per center. Aside from the occasional english unit being the bottom to a Russian unit’s top, that is.
Here’s a deal for you: let me have Den, Kie, and Ber, and I’ll leave Lon, Lvp, and Edi alone.
When I said Fleets, I was of course referring not only to the fleet that would be in residence in the port, but also the fleets that would guard the Norwegian Sea, Norway, Sweden, the Gulf of Bothnia and the Baltic. But perhaps I get ahead of myself.
My counter on your deal: you can have Kie and Ber, and I’ll take St. Pete, Sweden, Denmark and Norway. I’m quite fond of those light haired lasses to the north. Even the Danish brunettes are alright.
Well, tides haven’t turned much in this game. The powerhouses before remain so, and mostly have grown. The weaker powers were unable to rally around each other, circle the wagons, and put up a fight against those two steamrollers in blue and white. Lets see how things look.
Austria
Its a damn shame that you and Turkey weren’t on the same side. Not sure if you and he ever got your ducks in a row, but whatever happened he din’t go with the plan. Too bad for you, since he’s the only one who could have worked with you to slow down Russia. It appears that this is not going to be a game for the lesser powers to enjoy any influence. Down to two SCs with Russian white on all sides. I’d try and get Italy to help you out poste haste, but he’s got bigger fish to fry in dealing with England. Not much to do but bargain and pray. Enjoy the C-rations while you got 'em.
England
Nicely done, very little has changed but you’re clearly no longer the big dog on the board. Italy and France slowed you enough to give Russia time to sort out the Balkans to huge gain. One of the upsides to having so many SCs closely bunched up. time to reconsider the tactic of butting heads with Italy I’d wager. Easier said than done, but if you and he keep battling it out Russia will be long gone. While he has Turkey playing along, the odds are good that he’ll get to 14 SCs soon. Then a well timed stab could get him where he needs to be. You’ll still be battling over the stalemate line in Munich and Spain. Focus on winning land in the north, Russia is thin. Come to terms with Italy and have him focus on seizing the Balkans and subduing the subordinate of the juggernaut.
France
Never like to see someone go out on an NMR, but it wouldn’t have mattered either way. Noble fight, Russia should send you beer, or flowers…whatever the Frenchies like. Enjoy your refuge on a nice sandy beach, Elba perhaps.
Germany
Ditto on the NMR, poor form. Even worse in your case because the obvious move would have meant you’d have held Berlin, kept you in the game. If Russia’s sending France flowers, he should send you his eldest daughter.
Italy
Kinda sputtered the last couple turns, eh? You’ve held up well considering how far spread out you once were. The alliance with England is gone now that Germany and France are as well, you should have gotten more for the trouble. Bad moon risin’ with the apparent R/T allaince. Bury the hatchet with England and head east with a vengance. Balls out. Austria isn’t of much use, but try and get him to fall on his sword to your gain. Big stalemate in the Ionian, you will need his aid if you’re going to hope to stop Russia. If you and England keep fighting, Russia is going to coast.
Russia
Bravo, very nicely done. A very well timed reach, all your guesses appear to have paid off with some help from a absentee. The big question is if that 3 build turn will draw everyones attention to you. And more importantly, is it too late? Focus on getting as many units into Germany as possible. I’d build on the south coast of St Petes and get your attack going from there. A northern flanking move will be stood off and you’ll lose your German holding. If my reading of the map is right and you and Turkey are buddies, keep him on side as long as you can. A one SC stab won’t outweigh his value in slowing down Italy if he and England join forces. As long as you keep the conflict in front of you and don’t let anything in behind, you’re probably assured of the high hand in a DIAS.
Turkey
You should have no shortage of suitors right now. It appears to me that you married up with Russia. Its not a bad bet to side with the 400 pound gorilla just so long as he’s better off keeping you around. I’d say that this is the case, but the question is whats in it for you. If you think he’s a threat to solo, the time is now to make other plans. If you think there’ll be a DIAS at some point before too long, and you want to be assured a hand in it, stay where you are. Personally I hate being the subordinate to anyone, so I’d be looking to talk turkey with England and/or Italy about possible arrangements. The more you stand them off in the med, the more that helps Russia. You need to make a choice.

One clarifying point is that I told Germany I’d let him have Warsaw, with the explanation that England was going to hold Berlin and I wanted to keep him between us. If he had moved as agreed, he would have bounced me in Warsaw and still been dead.

I think that most everyone has been in another game with the other here at some point. I know that Abe, McG, WL and I all started in JC’s Chaos game, and I think that most if not all of us are somehow miraculously afloat. So if Weirddave, our esteemed GM. Anyway, nine months and a few days from the very beginning of the thread that spawned 1099. I was Austria, then England, now Russia.
The reason I asked about the side game because I wondered if trades were going on between games.
No trades between games that I know of.
Why are Austria and Russia seeming to be at war?

The game was conceded by England, Austria and Russia in the summer of 1913. There was no way to prevent Italy from getting that 18th SC in the fall anyway, so this one was definitely fought right down to the endgame. Review the entire game here.
