Anyone with a titanium wedding band? Any downside I'm not foreseeing?

Thanks to everyone for the input!

I ordered my ring this morning, and it should be here soon. Now I just have to go buy hers, and we’ll be all set.

Very pretty, hope you enjoy it.

I went with TC myself but titanium will be nice, too. I swear the more durable ring has made marriage #2 the stronger one. First marriage had yellow gold with some diamonds that kept falling out and, well, that was pretty much how the marriage went.

Ha! Well, condolences, more condolences and congrats, in that order then.

I know you already bought it, but my two cents anyway:

I’ve been wearing mine daily since October of 2011. It’s a very simple titanium ring, and I love it. It’s SUPER light, which I’m a big fan of. If someone compliments it, I take it off and let them hold it, and they are always quite amazed that it seems to weigh basically nothing. I’ve never really worn a ring for very long, but it didn’t take long to get used to wearing.

I wear it to do all kinds of crap, including working on cars (I’d take it off if I was doing something that seemed particularly dangerous, but the point is that I don’t worry about scratches). It’s probably taken on a more matte finish as compared to when it was shiny and new, but it doesn’t really look “scratched up”…just a bunch of really tiny & fine scratches that you don’t notice unless you really look at it up close.

The resizing thing is really the only downside for me, and since mine still fits, that hasn’t been an issue. It was cheap enough that I’d just buy a new one if needed…although this one is custom engraved with our names and wedding date, so hopefully I don’t have to do that.

EDIT: I am pretty sure I got mine from the same place…this one.

This is mine. It’s certainly got its share of scratches, but I figure a man’s ring doesn’t need to be shiny and perfect, it should have a lived in look. No downsides so far, it’s been on my finger for about 9 years now.

Nice ring, and congrats man.

From this thread I guess platinum isn’t too popular. I’ve had my platinum ring for 12+ years and it shows light scratches that I’ve never had polished. I like the heft, it’s flat and wide and looks similar to this one:
Vintage & Estate Men's Jewelry | EraGem.

But there’s no way I paid that for mine. It was long ago, I don’t remember the price.

Put the money you would have spent under the mattress and it will outperform resale jewelry. Heck spend half, put the rest under the mattress and you’re still ahead of the game.

Congratulations!! Long-time lurker checking in to say that I love my titanium wedding ring. In my first year of marriage I have never taken it off, though I move it to wash under it every time I wash my hands. Because of our profession (we are both nurses), we chose completely plain bands which will carry fewer microbes. The only limitations I’ve noticed are that titanium can not be worked into as many shapes as softer metals like gold and silver, and it collects surface/polish scratches but no actual scratches beyond the polished layer. We chose titanium because I’m allergic to every other metal I’ve worn before, and the titanium has caused no reaction at all for me. Good luck!

Speeds and feeds are totally different. Spin insane fast and take a light depth of cut at a high feed with 100% oil, not water solubale coolant. And expect the inserts to last 1/4 of the time. Drilling is the worst, teeny tiny pecks. Any dwelling is doom, will gum the tool in an instant. Tapping threads have reduced grown men to tears…
