You know, there’s insults, and then there’s out of line. It’s not your concern, Crafter_Man, if Guin ever has a job. It’s not your concern who pays for her medication. She hasn’t asked for a dime from you and unless you are amongst the top 0.8% of wage earners in the armpit of America that is Ohio, you’re not going to pay a penny more in taxes to bring the plan put forth in H.R. 3200 into fruition. So why don’t you just shut up with all the personal invective.
So it’s a good idea to give a segment of society that doesn’t give back the opportunity to take even more from it?
That I’m not you? That people actually like me?*
Besides, it’s not like you seem to like or respect anyone else here. I don’t give a shit what you think of me – but you seem to feel the same way about the entire Dope. So why are you even here?
*[sub]You just can’t stand it that, can you?[/sub]
And what does an ad-exec who makes $ 500k per year shilling Coca-Cola products give back that is so much more valuable than what others give back?
You’re right; all children should be cast out to fend for themselves. After all, they contribute nothing to society!
Hey! We’re “the heart of it all” not the armpit of it all!
Oh my God. You clearly have no idea who you are talking to. Trust me, do not go down that road with this one. She was on the edge of the diving board, and you just shoved her into the pool.
While we’re at it, lets cast out the handicapped too!
I’m Good Enough, I’m Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like Me!:
Oh, now you cannot just drop something like that into a thread and then walk away.
Well, they certainly like me better than they do you. If they like you at all, that is.
Here you go. Hope you have some free time. I think that thread hit the record for longest Pit thread ever.
I imagine that ad-exec pays a hell of a lot in taxes, if nothing else. Unlike a rather large segment of US society which pays little to no taxes yet take plenty out of society.
Where did you get the idea that life is a popularity contest, you dumb snatch?
Well, why do you assume they will never be able to give more later?
Think of JK Rowling and the treatment she got for her depression when she was on welfare in the UK, lots of people at Warner Bros in Hollywood are happy for the jobs made possible now because she got free treatment then, as it was reported that she contemplated suicide after her divorce.
Snort. Not everything is about the chyldren you know. Such as that post you responded to.
I’m sorry, that was a potshot because Crafter_Man was annoying me. But if I’m honest, I have never, not once, in my 36 years of life, had a good experience that involves Ohio. (I live in Pittsburgh, I’ve been in and through Ohio a fair bit.) I don’t know why Ohio hates me, but I hate it back. I’m sorry, there are good people in Ohio, like you and MsWhatsit, but otherwise… blech.
?? It was, of course, over-the-top sarcasm to illustrate the absurdity of curlcoat’s statement taken at face value – ideally with the goal of getting him (her?) to focus the point he/she was making more closely. If curlcoat has issues with children, or is childless by choice, he or she would surely concur that the majority of society considers that children need care and upbringing until they are of age to be able to take care of themselves.
At least this is honest: the worth of people is nothing more than financial. If someone isn’t making money and feeding the beast, they aren’t worthwhile, screw 'em.
Whether it is or isn’t, do you think you’re engendering respect or positive interest by insulting people like this? You claim to be so damned superior by virtue of your hard work and debt-free living and all of that, but you talk and engage people like the most common street slag.
It is if the taxpayers are paying for it.
She lives at home. She’s 30 years old. Presumably her parents pay for *everything *- food, shelter, clothing, internet, heat, electricity, etc. Except her meds, of course. Why? Because the taxpayers can be forced to pay for them. How convenient.
Her situation is a perfect example of how broken our system is. She is a dependent of her parents, and a safe assumption is that they can easily pay for her meds. But because there exists a program to force strangers to pay for them, they opt for that instead. Nice system.
Sounding like a two-year-old, I know, but Guin started tossing out the insults first. Why didn’t you go after her?
