Why do leasing offices require to hold your dirvers license while they show you the apartment for rent? What is the exact reason for doing this?
When I rented apartments, I kept the driver’s license in the rental office while I was out showing the property. The purpose of this is just in case the person you were showing does something to you (like rape, abduction, robbery, whatever). You then have their driver’s license that someone could use when you turned up missing.
I once had a guy who stole a wallet out of my desk drawer when I was turned around making copies of his license. It was easy for the cops to catch him because I had his address. :smack:
It’s so you won’t run off with the apartment.
