Same here. Found it very strange that I had this post from Zuckface in my feed.
So far I haven’t been forced to follow Trump (even typing that makes me feel sick) on FB. I do use FB Purity, which may or may not have something to do with that. I have noticed that for the past week or so my FB feed has been slow to load, and sometimes I need to refresh the screen just to get anything to show.
This thread pushed me to finally delete my old FB account. I opened it a couple decades ago, with misgivings, at the urging of a friend. It didn’t take long to work out I was the “product,” and I used it very little. Kept an eye on it to make sure it wasn’t hijacked or being misused. It never was.
I feel a weight lifted from its deletion, and I’m glad it’s finally done.
Me too, discovered I or ? Had liked the poshits in the WH. Nope unliked and blocked.
After Election Day I purged my fb of all “friends” even family. Now I use it to shout into the void by sharing trolling & triggering posts from IG renegades. It’s my therapy.
Actually I should follow my enemies and keep shouting at them.
“Apparently Facebook wants everyone to follow Donald Trump now”
No nefarious changes in my Meta feeds as of today. As indicated above Biden Archive page appeared with everything before noon Monday and the official POTUS page now features the new crowd, both happening virtually instantaneously.
But no personal/campaign Trump or Vance pages added to my follows.
Part of it all is that POTUS B tended to have a sober presence that did not disrupt your scrolling so you almost did not notice if one of their posts was pushed on you, while you just know for POTUS T is going to be big brassy graphics WITH LOTS OF SHOUTING!!! in the text and on the picture itself.
My main “vulnerability” if any could come from the direction of any “friends”, followers/followed accounts, or “liked” pages that may link or share Trump content and the algorithm deciding to push some of that on me.
A bug of some kind. Right.
What a complete load of bullshit…from the paper which promoted the “Saddam is building nukes” story to justify the invasion of Iraq.
Some things never change.
Stranger
What on Earth are you talking about? The article didn’t claim it was a bug; it claimed what is almost certainly true - that many people forgot that they followed the PotUS account 4 years ago, and it was now handed over to Trump.
The claim that the article blamed this on a bug is exactly as true as the idea that Saddam was building nukes in 2003.
Interesting.
I checked and I haven’t been added to anyone that I didn’t personally add. However, I mentioned this to my wife and she told me that she had been added to a couple of democrat feeds that she had no interest in.
Congratulations! Just in case: deleting a FB account permanently is not easy, here is a wiki-how-to. And remember: if by mistake you just log in once in the next 30 days, the account will not be deleted at all!
Oh, thank you! I didn’t know that, about logging in even once over 30 days. I don’t think I’d logged in for several years until I deleted the account, so not a problem, but it’s good to know.
Figures, too. They keep a tight grip.
I do not know what course other men may follow.
Sometimes I’ll try to simmer down and watch a movie instead…
Aw and here I was hoping it was going be The Social Network.
LOL
I thought I deleted the darn thing in 2016 but lo and behold it was still there percolating in 2020 as if I had never left.
I use it now infrequently and will likely permanently delete it at some point.
