Well, the issue with Netflix is that you’re either watching it the night it airs or eight months later. For services that let you watch stuff a day or two after it airs I can see letting an episode slide. Waiting the better part of a year doesn’t seem equivalent, especially if you want to watch the new episode next week or discuss it with friends.
Agents of Shield, TWD, and GoT because I enjoy the threads about them here.
Empire, Outlander, Game of Thrones, Big Bang Theory. I binge watched The Good Wife so I’m caught up on that, so that will probably be added to the list.
I watch shows on broadcast day that I fear will be spoiled for me the next day in some fashion if I don’t. Especially for season and/or series finales. For example, I watched the series finale of Mad Men that evening just because I knew I would run across something the next day about it, despite my best efforts.
But even in these cases, I’ll wait at least 20 minutes so I can avoid commercials (as someone posted upthread).
I’ll watch awards shows live (Oscars, Emmys). I’ll watch certain massive sporting events live (e.g, the Superbowl) or else I won’t watch them at all.
I tend to binge-watch dramas. I don’t see *Person of Interest *until well after the season’s over. Same with Blue Bloods. That may be the case with TBBT, as I’m not bothering with this season.
Kind of an obscure one. Murdoch Mysteries. I just adore it.
Nothing now, but the final shows I made sure we caught live were Survivor and Supernatural.
Even those get watched a day later now, though.
Game of Thrones is the only one for me right now. In the recent past, Breaking Bad, Lost, BSG were all shows that, to the extent possible, I watched at the time.
The last show that I absolutely didn’t want to wait to see was Terriers. It was so, so good.
**Old shows:
***Oz *was. I wouldn’t even answer the phone when Oz was on.
Law & Order during the Briscoe years. A roomie and I used to have Chinese food on Thursday nights. (In related L&O weirdness, I was watching an episode, and just as the detectives on TV were knocking on someone’s door, someone knocked on my door…and it was Jacksonville detectives, looking for information about my downstairs neighbor, who’d been found dead in his apartment. )
*
Doctor Who *with the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors.
Life on Mars (UK version)
Torchwood.
Northern Exposure.
Broadchurch. (season 1)
**
New shows:**
The Walking Dead. I’m hooked despite a lot of the stupidity.
Game of Thrones.
The last show I was super-psyched about watching ASAP was Hannibal on NBC. Ah, I miss those psychos already…
At the time I was following Tumblr more than I am now, and it was IMPOSSIBLE to not get spoiled, no matter if you put “spoiler” or “spoilers” in your blacklist or what.
I watched each episode of Star Trek TOS as it came on. And Laugh-In was special. I had to be home and I audio taped the show (reel-to-reel tape recorder sitting in front of the TV). I don’t think I ever listened to them though. There were probably others, but I don’t remember them right now.
