I came accross this place and stopped in.it feels curiously interesting in here.so many times i wonder about so many things.it would be good to have a place to go,thank you for being here.im not a smart man.im setting up multi aquariums using a large water pump and a large downdraft protien skimmer, moving aprox. 3000 gallons of saltwater per hour, using gravity and overflowingwater in many directions. im trying to use only one water pump for all.5 tanks and 4 tubs, aprox 1000 gallons total volume.on paper it all works wonderfully,im still in the building stages.it is outdoors, next to the house with as much space as i need, there is a slight downhill grade i will use.2 large tubs 185gals. each i was hoping to draw water from and to deposit water to at end of cycle.I wont be siphoning at all, but im going to build up with acrylic a frame around tops of each glass tank. then plumb or cut exits at top for water to spill out from into channels or pipes and drain into tub. i will be using all native lifeforms, including rocks, sands, crabs worms, shrimp, fish etc.ideally all things to have a complete biosphere. algae will be welcome along with micro creatures since they are the foundation of all. any insite from anyone would be welcomed by me,i am a student of life and the first to admit i have so much to learn, thank you for spending your time with me.
As a student (of life and other things), please take a minute or two and study the forum listings, would you please?
I am moving this thread to General Questions, which is a better fit, I think.

My concern is that you haven’t mentioned what sort of large scale biological filtration you will be doing in addition to protein skimming. I would also be concerned about maintaining salinity as I suspect your system will have significant evaporation and will need more or less constant fresh water replacement. People with experience with these sorts of massive systems are few and far between but if anyone’s got em, the SDMB does. Just giving you a little bump here.
