Archie and Sabrina-- Don't bring yo kids!

My son just informed me of Archie Comic’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. I would like to read this.

I am not a comic book person. When I was a little girl, I read Archie comics. I did not read superhero comics regularly. When my kids were little, I’d grab up their Archie Digests when they were done. They were great reading for the bathroom. Haven’t read a graphic novel but I love movies made from them.

As anyone here read this? Is it a dark re-imagining of the traditional cornbread comic books or a so lame attempt at being hip? I dunno but I’d like to find out. Should I take it upon myself to search out a comic book store near me or possibly order it from Amazon? What will I be letting myself in for?

That title is a “spin off” of the Archie zombie apocalypse series (yes, there is such a thing) which casts the Archie world in a somewhat darker standpoint.

…“somewhat?”

Urg. “Somewhat darker,” in that a thermite bomb makes its surroundings “somewhat warmer.”

I also seem to remember seeing Archie Vs. Sharknado advertised somewhere recently.

Sabrina unwittingly causing a zombie apocalypse and sent to hell is somewhat darker than the Sabrina I remember.

This seems to answer one of the questions I have about Sabrina’s chilling adventures.

I’ve read the first few Sabrina books. They’re very dark. Definitely not kiddie fare, and definitely not anywhere near in the same vein as the Archie vs. Sharknado comic.

I think they’re great, but for those who grew up with Sabrina they will be a huge adjustment. I’d say they’re even darker than Afterlife with Archie (which is pretty dark). Satanism and a lot of Lovecraftian themes. The writing is mature and very good, IMO.
