Ignoring the other comments, which are more jokey (and at least ‘almost all of his friends are white’ at least acknowledges Chuck and Nancy, even as it ignores that they’re about 1/3 of the main cast)…
This is just…bizarre. The digests have always had plenty of old material, to be sure, so lots of stories where they were in out of date clothes as far as knew readers would know, but the girls, in particular, were always as up to date as the fact that it was a comic book with an aging staff and fairly rigid art style (and, during certain fashion eras, the fact that they had to be kid-friendly) allowed in the new material.
